GrammaTech has announced the immediate availability of the integration between CodeSonar and Wind River® Workbench. With this integration, software developers can annotate and resolve the software vulnerabilities that CodeSonar highlights without leaving the Wind River Workbench development environment, thereby significantly boosting productivity.

Supporting the native Wind River VxWorks real-time operating system as well as the POSIX API, CodeSonar provides advanced, whole program static analysis of application software and device drivers running in either kernel or user mode.

For developers of complex IoT devices, CodeSonar delivers a must-have capability as it finds security and quality problems as well as problems specific to multi-core development such as deadlocks, livelocks, resource starvation, and race conditions.

CodeSonar identifies bugs that can result in system crashes, unexpected behavior, and security breaches, reducing the risk of shipping costly, brand-damaging defects. It finds these bugs during the development phase, before software is tested, thereby saving cost and time.

‘Software quality is critically important for embedded software developers,’ said Mark Hermeling, Senior Director of Product Marketing at GrammaTech. ‘The combination of GrammaTech CodeSonar for advanced static analysis and Wind River Workbench as the development environment for VxWorks improves quality, eliminates security vulnerabilities, reduces risk and helps ship software with confidence.’

‘Our robust partner ecosystem is a key part of the Wind River value proposition,’ said Graham Morphew, Senior Director of Product Management at Wind River. ‘Wind River Workbench integrated with GrammaTech CodeSonar brings the best tools together in a single unified user experience accelerating our customer’s time to market while also helping them improve security.’

The Wind River Workbench integration is part of the GrammaTech CodeSonar Eclipse plug-in and is immediately available for all customers under a current software maintenance contract.
