British contract electronics manufacturing company Holmes Circuit Designs Ltd (HCD) has added an AOI system for the inspection of mounted PCBs. The company decided in favour of the technologically-leading company GOEPEL electronics and its OptiCon BasicLine 1M AOI system with the latest Chameleon 360° angled view camera.
HCD found that GOEPEL electronic’s OptiCon BasicLine AOI system is an extremely effective tool in the production process as a stand-alone solution for SMD and THT inspection. Time and cost savings, as well as an increased quality were viewed as cornerstones of competitiveness, all achievable with the new inspection system. The simple test program creation and extraordinary flexibility were additional critical points during the AOI system selection process in which GOEPEL electronic’s OptiCon BasicLine delivered the best results.

“The OptiCon BasicLine AOI system provided a solution that met all the criteria of HCD including 01005, system versatility and especially lifted lead detection with the Chameleon 360° angled view camera”, said Richard Ainley, sales specialist for GOEPEL electronics.

Carol Holmes, Director for HCD said: “This is a key investment for HCD and will support our high technology capabilities in line with our philosophy of right first time. We looked at various machines available and decided on the GOEPEL electronics machine due to its high quality, speed and technical capabilities. We have had a very strong year and continue to invest in leading technology to ensure we can delivery the latest product with the highest quality.”
