Green Hills Software has expanded its operations in southern Europe, opening its first office in Italy and appointing a regional sales manager, Federico De Sario, who will be based in the company's new Turin office. Green Hills decided to strengthen its direct presence in order to enhance the support for existing customers and develop new opportunities for products including its industry-leading INTEGRITY real-time operating system (RTOS) and MULTI integrated development environment (IDE).

De Sario, a graduate electrical engineer with a software engineering background, has extensive experience in sales, marketing and management roles with technology companies. He spent more than ten years with Wind River Systems in positions including Italy country manager and regional director for southern Europe. Subsequently he was director of business development and executive vice president sales and marketing for Italian embedded industrial electronics company Prima Electro SpA. In his earlier career he was a senior software specialist with Digital Equipment Corporation.

Jeremy Flann, EMEA vice president of sales, Green Hills Software, commented: "Italy is a major manufacturer of equipment, such as industrial automation and transportation systems, that rely on the type of high-performance, high-reliability software in which Green Hills Software specializes. Federico brings a wealth of experience in the industrial embedded market that will help us to match our skills and technology to the needs and requirements of the Italian manufacturing sector."
