LTE Focus 2010 provides a rapid and easily accessible opportunity to update your knowledge of the 3GPP LTE market and its technology. It’s the latest in a series of one-day events taking place in Amsterdam, providing a cost-effective means of hearing the latest views of LTE operators, analysts and technology experts on the evolution and deployment path towards LTE. It takes place at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Schiphol Airport on September 9.
With Long Term Evolution, LTE, there’s a new radio platform technology that will allow operators to achieve even higher peak throughputs than HSPA+ in higher spectrum bandwidth. Initial work began on LTE in 2004 at 3GPP in 2004, it became more official in 2006 and a completed 3GPP Release 8 specification was published in March 2009. Initial deployment of LTE is targeted for 2010 and 2011.

LTE, part of the GSM evolutionary path beyond 3G, follows EDGE, UMTS, HSPA, a combination of HSDPA and HSUPA, and HSPA Evolution or HSPA+. Although HSPA and its evolution are strongly positioned to be the dominant mobile data technology for the next decade, the GSM family of standards must evolve toward the future. HSPA Evolution will provide the stepping stone to LTE for many operators.

The overall objective for LTE provides an extremely high performance radio access technology with full vehicular speed mobility that can coexist with HSPA and earlier networks. With scalable bandwidth, operators will be able to migrate their networks and users easily from HSPA to LTE over time.

LTE assumes a full Internet Protocol network architecture and is designed to support voice in the packet domain. It incorporates advanced radio techniques to achieve performance levels beyond what will be practical with CDMA, particularly in larger channel bandwidths. However, much the same way that 3G coexists with 2G in integrated networks, LTE will coexist with 3G and 2G, and multimode devices will function across LTE/3G or even LTE/3G/2G, depending on market circumstances.

LTE Focus 2010 provides the opportunity for networking with leading operators and OEMs. You can meet the technology leaders in radios, baseband, RF, SDR, MIMO, network planning and test & measurement. You can listen to authoritative presentations on the key issues leading towards LTE deployment and even contribute to panel Sessions.

Topics of discussion in the sessions include the LTE business model, its standards and regulatory issues, as well as designing a profitable network and the UMTS/HSPA+/LTE evolution path. You can also hear about the cost-efficiency of handsets and terminals, keeping down infrastructure CAPEX and OPEX and more.

Find out the latest news of deployments and customer trials, learn how MIMO and multiple cells, including picocells and femtocells, can help operators achieve business objectives.
