Schaffner has announced that Farnell is the winner of its distributor of the year award for 2007. The award recognises sales performance and the close cooperation between the two companies on the introduction of new products, in which Farnell has played a key role in the all important design phase.
The strength of the relationship with Farnell is evident in the work done in seeding the marketplace. Farnell offers the latest technology to Design Engineers in the UK and Eire via the Internet and e:marketing tools. Schaffner and Farnell have worked closely together to raise awareness about EMC compliance amongst the design engineering community ensuring EMC components are considered early in the design process and correctly specified. Schaffner and Farnell have a long-standing commitment to EMC research and they jointly work with York University, sponsoring Final Year Student Prizes for EMC projects.

Paul Dixon, Managing Director of Schaffner Ltd comments, “We are very pleased to make this award to Farnell and it marks a very successful, long-standing partnership. Over the past 20 years we have enjoyed an excellent business relationship at all levels, one that provides an industry model. Farnell’s business with us has shown continuous growth, in 2006 we saw a 29% increase in sales over the 2005 figure, seriously outperforming the market. We are looking forward to 2007 to find further opportunities to drive the relationship forward at an even greater pace.”

The most up-to-date Schaffner Product ranges FN 2030 and FN 2090 universal single phase EMC filters are to be launched by Farnell in February 2007 via their e:findings newsletter and latest print catalogues.

Harriet Green, CEO of Premier Farnell, comments, “Farnell is delighted to have been awarded this honour. Our powerful supplier portfolio and the relations that we’ve developed, the expertise of our people in areas of new technology and the commitment we’ve put into our online support services means that we provide excellent service all around and it is extremely gratifying for this to be recognised by our suppliers.”

In a recent survey carried out by Farnell, customers were asked to rank a number of technologies that were of most interest. Omitting the obvious leaders such as Micros, Opto and Power Management, EMC came out as the number one interest.
