Elma Electronic announce the appointment of Fred Ruegg as the new CEO effective September 1st, 2013. Fred succeeds Stephan Buergin, who died in a fatal accident at the end of June 2013. Prior to being named CEO, Fred Ruegg was president of Elma Americas, responsible for the three Elma companies in the Americas region, as well as for the UK and French Group companies.

He was also a member of the Group Executive Board. He will continue in his role in the GEB along with CFO Edwin Wild, and retain responsibility for the Americas region and selected EMEA countries.

Ruegg joined the Elma Group in 1985 and launched Elma Electronic Inc. in the United States in January 1986. Initially, the focus was on the well-known Elma electronic packaging components and rotary switches.

Over the years, the company expanded into backplanes and, through acquisitions, added electronic cabinet manufacturing and system integration. Today, Elma operates four manufacturing facilities in the United States and has become a leading company in the electronic enclosure and embedded computing arena.

Ruegg comments: “Elma has added a large number of different competencies over the years and today we are well positioned as a solution provider for complex embedded systems. I’m looking forward to leveraging our reliable solutions, flexibility and design and engineering expertise to provide advanced level and highly integrated solutions that fit our customers’ needs globally.”
