Datasound Laboratories (DSL), a leading provider of single board and embedded computing solutions, has been awarded Microsoft® Silver OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Hardware Competency status. The Silver Competency certification is part of the Microsoft Partner Network program and reflects DSL’s level of Microsoft expertise and training as well as its commitment to develop and market packaged software solutions based on Microsoft technologies.
DSL has over 20 years’ experience developing custom design solutions across a range of markets from marine and defence through automotive and transportation, to media and telecommunications. It is currently expanding its specialist custom design services to meet growing demand for UK-based systems research and development; including moving its engineering teams into new larger premises with purpose design studios and labs.

“Our Microsoft Silver OEM Hardware Competency status reflects our in-depth experience and commitment to delivering state-of-the-art custom design solutions based on Microsoft technologies,” said Derek Carpenter, managing director at DSL. “We provide highly-effective ‘on demand’ services ranging from PCB layout to fully-customised and integrated system development that provide OEMS with a cost-effective and risk-free approach to resolving project overload or resource shortages.”

In addition to its relationship with Microsoft, DSL has established strong relationships with leading vendors such as AMD, Insyde and XJTag.

Microsoft silver competencies are designed to help businesses demonstrate their expertise by aligning to customer needs and making certifications more recognizable to prospective customers. Earning a silver competency enables companies such as DSL to differentiate their business and capitalize on partner benefits tailored to specific business needs.

The Microsoft Partner Network features 28 silver competencies, which relate to infrastructure optimization models, products, customer audiences, or cross-platform solutions.
