A bi-weekly podcast has been launched by Real-Time Innovations (RTI), created specifically for engineers, architects and leaders in the IIoT space. The Connext Podcast will cover a wide range of topics, including autonomous cars and vehicle-to-vehicle communications, ad-hoc peer-to-peer (P2P) networks, fog computing, IoT security and company culture. The podcast will feature product and technical overviews with RTI’s lead engineers as well as interviews with RTI customers and industry experts on their experiences building next-gen IIoT systems.

In addition to the interview episodes, RTI will release audio versions of popular whitepapers, ebooks and other technical content covering the latest IIoT trends.

The first four episodes have aired with the first two discussing the Robot Operating System (ROS) and securing robotic systems. Vince DiLuoffo, a RTI Connext DDS user working on his PhD thesis, shared insights on challenges he has faced in securing these systems and the transition from ROS 1 to ROS 2. Vince also discusses security as an all or nothing approach, specifically when using the Data Distribution Service (DDS) standard.

Listeners can tune in every other Wednesday to hear the latest in IIoT development. The currently available episodes include:

  • Episode 1: ROS & Securing Robotic Systems, Pt. 1
  • Episode 2: ROS & Securing Robotic Systems, Pt. 2
  • Episode 3: Requirements, Communications Protocols & the IIoT
  • Episode 4: Company Culture & Leading Distributed Teams.
