Axel Schäfer becomes new Chairman of DSM Computer AG

The Chairman of the Supervisory Board and founder of DSM Computer AG, Manuel Vieira, welcomes the new Chairman Axel Schäfer, who will lead the activities of DSM Computer into a new era, further driving the growth of the company. With the addition of Axel Schäfer, DSM also enhances its know-how in the areas of embedded software, embedded IPCs and panel solutions in industrial automation.
Axel Schäfer (47) was born in Duisburg. A graduate engineer, he studied electrical engineering with a major in data technology at the Munich Technical University. Axel Schäfer was initially responsible for strategic business development at Distec GmbH in Munich in the area of Business Development. He began his career in industrial automation, which now spans almost 23 years, as Marketing/Sales Manager and later as Managing Director of well-known companies in the area of the development and marketing of innovative display solutions and TFT displays in automation and control engineering. From 1992 to 1998 Axel Schäfer worked for the renowned BIOS manufacturer AWARD Software and whilst there as Sales Manager and later as Managing Director successfully expanded the European branch office.

Further milestones in his career are the establishment of a European branch office of a large American software manufacturer, whereby Axel Schäfer was as Managing Director responsible for software products and services.

With the joining of Axel Schäfer we are gaining an international and industrially experienced manager for key mandates, says Manuel Vieira. In discussion with Manuel Vieira, Axel Schäfer emphasized how much he is looking forward to this new challenge. For almost 30 years DSM AG has been the specialist for the development and manufacture of customer-specific solutions in the area of embedded, panel and 19-inch technology for various market sectors.
Axel Schäfer explained that in November, DSM AG will present numerous new developments by the company at the SPS/IPC/DRIVES 2009 in Nuremberg and that DSM AG is already looking forward to engaging in lively discussions with visitors.
