Avago Technologies makes available 4 Gb/s Fibre Channel Transceivers for Long Reach Storage Platforms
Avago Technologies has announced the availability of its single-mode fiber optic transceivers targeted at 4 Gb/s Fibre Channel storage networking applications such as inter-switch links, storage replication, and other long reach applications. Leveraging Avago's expertise in fiber optics, the small-form-pluggable modules are RoHS-compliant and deliver superior electromagnetic interference benefits and device performance resulting in increased port density and faster time to market.
With a long, active history in setting industry specifications for optical standards and form factors, Avago's new single-mode AFCT-57R5APZ (4 km reach) and AFCT-57R5ATPZ (10 km reach) modules are the latest additions to the company's broad portfolio of storage transceivers. These product offerings cement Avago's position as a leading storage optics provider with a full range of products from ESCON to 2 Gb and 4 Gb single-mode and multi-mode components.

The AFCT-57R5APZ and AFCT-57R5ATPZ transceivers are compliant with American National Standards Institute (ANSI) FC-PI-2 physical layer standards, and support Fibre Channel applications at 1-, 2- and 4- Gb/s data rates. Both products are compatible with IEEE 802.3 and feature integrated diagnostic monitoring interface (DMI) capabilities. Additionally, superior device performance characteristics enable lower manufacturing costs and testing requirements.
