Following the recent signing of Arrow UK’s distribution agreement with Microsoft, twenty four of the company’s engineers and technical specialists in the UK have received intensive training on the sofware company’s operating systems and development tools. The training is designed to equip Arrow’s specialists with the skills they need to support customers in building embedded applications based around Microsoft Windows Embedded software including Windows Embedded CE 6.0 and Windows XP Embedded. This includes providing support for toolkits such as Platform Builder for Windows CE and Target Designer for Windows XP Embedded.
Chris McAneny, Arrow’s European Embedded Solutions Group Leader, states: “Training our technical sales and engineering teams on the Microsoft embedded operating systems is a key aspect of expanding our offering beyond components into embedded platforms. In particular, we want to ensure that we can engage with customers to help them not only select the right Microsoft solution but also the complementary silicon and subsystem platforms on the Arrow linecard.”

Microsoft’s Doug Follett, the EMEA Channel Manager for OEM Embedded Sales, adds: “We now plan for the Arrow teams to embark on the Microsoft ‘exam belt’ program, which allows them to progress from green belt to black belt based on demonstrable knowledge and experience.”
