The launch of the C-STAT add-on tool for static analysis from IAS Systems has been successfully received with many customer requests globally, a strong sales growth and an ongoing roll-out in a number of product versions.

That’s why we have launched tools for static analysis through C-STAT as well as run-time analysis through C-RUN. Launched in February, C-STAT is a static analysis tool that is completely integrated in the embedded development toolchain IAR Embedded Workbench. Static analysis finds potential issues in code by doing an analysis on the source code level. Such errors include memory leaks, dead code, arithmetic errors and array and string overruns that can cause safety and security issues and affect the performance and quality of a product. C-STAT checks compliance with rules as defined by the coding standards MISRA C:2004, MISRA C++:2008 and MISRA C:2012, as well as hundreds of rules based on, for example, CWE (the Common Weakness Enumeration) and the CERT C/C++ Secure Coding Standards. Users can easily select which rule set and which individual rules to check the code against, and the analysis results are provided directly in the IAR Embedded Workbench IDE.

C-STAT is available as an add-on for a number of products, for example IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM, for Texas Instruments MSP430 and for Renesas RX.
