ACAL Technology, and Napier Partnership Ltd, have co- sponsored the media production course at the University of Chichester. The students were tasked to create fun viral videos incorporating silicon chips and other electronic components in order to promote ACAL Technology. Each video was judged on various criteria, including production quality and the likelihood that it would spread virally, by a panel of judges from ACAL and Napier, and the winning team was awarded £100 worth of iTunes vouchers.
The students were given four weeks to create the videos with the guidance of Mike Maynard, managing director of Napier. The students were mentored and advised on how to portray the silicon chips and other electronic components distributed by ACAL. The videos captured many of the technologies that ACAL support, including M2M technology featured within The Machines are Talking! and semiconductors within the video Evolution of Electronic Design. The winner, chosen by Simon Rush, Divisional Sales & Marketing Information Manager of ACAL, was Not Just Any Component, created by Jasper Chiwuzie and Georgie Khalid. This video was inspired by the famous Marks and Spencer adverts. Viral videos also created on the course included; The Dating Game, The Personal Touch, The Switch Specialist and Those Electronics Are A Nightmare.

”The project was a great success,” commented Simon Rush. “The students have done a great job in creating professional-quality videos for ACAL. Although the teams came up with very different ideas, each have successfully captured the technologies that ACAL distributes, in some unique and fun ways. These students will go on to have great careers in video production.”

All the videos are being used by ACAL Technology in their email marketing campaigns and are available on YouTube at http://youtube.com/ACALTech.
