ACAL appoints Paul Webster as UK Managing Director for ACAL Technology and BFi OPTiLAS

ACAL Plc has appointed Paul Webster as UK Managing Director for ACAL Technology and BFi OPTiLAS. Webster joins ACAL after more than 30 years in component distribution. Before joining the company he held the position of Head of Product Management at Electrocomponents Plc., where he was responsible for the implementation of electronics strategy throughout Europe and APAC and the introduction of over 60000 new products to their range. During his career Webster has held senior level management roles including Vice President of Marketing, EMEA for Avnet Inc., and sales and marketing roles at the Macro Group and ITT Electronic Services.

“Component distribution faced enormous challenges during 2009 and, through the recovery, will need to continue to offer customers tangible and realisable benefits at every level of their business,” asserts Webster. “I plan to continue the significant investment in ACAL’s specialist technical and manufacturing support services. This will include further development of our services offer for connector assembly, fibre-optic cable assembly and production-ready modules to enable customers to implement emerging technologies with minimum risk and reduced time to market.”

“Tracking and evaluating emerging product trends and technologies is a crucial element of our strategy,” continues Webster. “We employ specialists across many product categories, including Photonics, Microsystems, Imaging and Power, who engage in a constant dialogue with customers, suppliers and end-users on many levels, including via social networking media. The insights provided by this dialogue drive the introduction of the new technologies and services with which we can help customers to develop new revenue streams.”
