3M today announced the expansion of its Touch Systems sales team in Europe with the appointment of Fernando Fandiño Oliver. As Sales Manager – Spain and Portugal, Fernando will be responsible for day-to-day account management of existing and prospective customers in the gaming, banking and finance, and industrial markets.
“The Spanish and Portuguese markets have huge potential and adoption of touch screen technology is increasing in a wide range of new applications,” commented Francesco Fasoglio, European Business Manager, 3M’s Touch Systems division. “Fernando brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the European sales team and will play a valuable role in maintaining 3M’s market leadership through the introduction of new touch technologies, and close cooperation with OEMs, integrators, engineering consultancies and distributors to deliver high value solutions to local customers.”

Supported by a customer service team and Field Application Engineer (FAE), Fernando’s key objective is to strengthen 3M’s involvement in the first stage of project integration for the enhanced benefit of end user customers. For example, ensuring all touch screen electronics and parts are shipped for delivery when they are needed, anywhere in the field. This efficient approach, together with 3M’s warranty on monitors and sensors, will help delivery of high quality end products with extended reliability and life expectancy.

Fernando has more than 20 years sales experience and joined 3M from Habasit, a manufacturer of conveyors and power transmission belts, where he held the position of sales manager for Spain and Portugal with responsibility for customer service, field sales and sales engineering team dealing directly with Spanish and Portuguese OEMs and distributors. Prior to that, he worked as a sales manager for Intralox, a US modular plastic belt company. Fernando was born in Brazil and speaks five languages (Portuguese, Spanish, English, Catalan and French). He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in sales business from the University of Barcelona and studied mechanical engineering in Brazil.
