Shimadzu, test instrumentsShimadzu equipment for RoHS validation of componentsNews Release from:
Shimadzu (UK Branch) Lambda UK, manufacturer of power supplies, has been using instruments from Shimadzu to test components for compliance with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS) directives, which came into effect at the beginning of July 2006.
Lambda uses Shimadzu' s Energy Dispersive X-Ray fluorescence spectrometer (EDX700HS), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer (FTIR) and UVmini-1240 absorption spectrophotometer for on-site verification of any component. The EDX detects elements like mercury, cadmium and lead, quickly and easily down to the ppm range. Other banned substances, like polybrominated compounds and hexavalent chromium, are identified with the FTIR and UVmini, respectively. |
