TI’s digital temperature sensor cuts power consumption, size more than 75 percent
Texas Instruments today unveiled the industry's smallest, most power-efficient digital temperature sensor. The TMP103 consumes 97 percent less power and is 75 percent smaller than the next closest competitor. It also provides global read/write functionality to ease thermal profiling. Using a single command, eight TMP103 devices mounted on the board can simultaneously identify and monitor hotspots. The TMP103 simplifies thermal profiling while enabling longer battery life and smaller form factors for portable consumer electronics such as smartphones, tablets, laptops and netbooks.

IR Sensors for Measuring Radiation Temperatures
The Smartec infrared sensor SMTIR9901 and SMTIR9902 are sophisticated full silicon infrared sensors. The sensors can be used in measuring the radiation temperature without any contact. For the different radiation temperature ranges various filters are available. The sensor type SMTIR9902 contains a temperature sensor for measuring the temperature of the sensor itself. The temperature range of the sensor-element is between -40°C to +100°C. The sensor is available in a standard TO-05 encapsulation and with a 5.5 um. high pass filter. For small field of view there is an infrared sensor available with a silicon lens.

The SFH 7770 from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors combines the functions of a digital ambient light sensor with those of a digital proximity sensor. It determines the ambient brightness, detects the presence of an object nearby and can even tell whether the object is moving closer or moving further away. World’s Smallest Capacitive Humidity Sensor from IST
