Isabellenhütte is launching the VLx resistor series, resistors with unmatched performance. Reversing the length to width ratio resulted in expanding the resistance range to extremely low values (i. e. 1mOhm in size 0612) and enabled other remarkable improvements. The larger soldering and contact pads are increasing the mechanical stability of the solder joints during temperature and power cycling and guaranty at the same time a much better heat flow into the PC board. A new mechanical construction significantly increases the mechanical stability and the internal heat resistance (Rthi as low as 15K/W) with the consequence that the heat produced within the components is conducted very efficiently to the terminations and out of the resistors. Despite their small size, the power rating of the resistors is very high in comparison to similar components.

Qualified in accordance with EEE-INST002 and MIL-PRF 55182, the new Z204, Z205, and Z206 join the previously released Z201 for military/aerospace applications.

Stackpole’s HVC Series High Voltage Resistors Offer ESD Withstanding Up To 40KV

The HVC Series thick film high voltage chip resistors from Stackpole are designed to operate and withstand extremely high voltages which would destroy other standard and medium voltage resistors. The high resistance values in the HVC Series in standard chip sizes of 1206 and larger are rated for voltage handling above 15KV, and the 3512 size chip can withstand up to 40KV transients. This means that even repetitive ESD surges of 15KV will not significantly affect the performance of these resistors. Standard and medium voltage chip resistors can have ESD perfomance that ranges from good to completely unacceptable at 3KV and 10KV levels. This is due to the wide range of laser calibration trimming necessary to achieve the required tolerances for these series. However the HVC Series utilizes a unique direct deposition onto the substrate, which allows for the highest resistance values and highest voltage handling with typically very little laser trim calibration needed.
