Murata low-profile capacitors reduces acoustic noise by up to 30dB
Murata's GJ8 series of multi-layer ceramic chip capacitors (MLCCs) has been specifically developed to reduce acoustic noise in consumer and industrial electronics applications. Sound can be generated by the MLCCs at the input to the DC-DC converter in a notebook PC, or by capacitors in the control circuit of the LCD module in a mobile phone.
Bulk Metal Z-Foil Wraparound Surface-Mount Resistor from Vishay
Vishay has introduced the improved VSMP0603 ultra-high-precision Bulk Metal® Z-Foil (BMZF) wraparound surface-mount resistor with an extended power rating to 0.1 W and higher resistance values to 5 kΩ. The device is the industry's first in the 0603 chips size to offer a military-grade absolute TCR of ±0.2 ppm/°C from −55°C to +125°C, +25°C ref., a tolerance of ±0.01%, and an almost immeasurable 1-ns rise time, effectively without ringing. While typical 0603 resistors offer a load-life stability of ≥ 0.1% through a 1000-hour workload, Vishay's new device features an improved load-life stability of ±0.005% (50 ppm) at +70°C for 2000 hours at rated power.
KOA Expands High Precision Thin Film Resistors Range
KOA has expanded its RN73H series of high precision thin film flat chip resistors with size 0402 and higher ohmic values in all other sizes. The RN73H series provides excellent long term stability, typically below 0.05% resistance change over 1000 hours. The typical resistance change due to soldering heat is below 0.01%.

The resistors' ability to retain their initial value through temperature change, load application, frequency shift, and short-time overload is unmatched in the industry. AVX upgrades its capacitor simulation software programs
AVX Corporation has launched the latest version of its SpiTanII software that enables designers to view all basic characteristics and parameters for tantalum and Oxicap (niobium oxide) capacitors. The company has also expanded the Pspice simulation software libraries it offers for its tantalum, tantalum polymer and niobium oxide chip parts, as well as introducing V6.0 of its Select-a-Cap software tool. Computer modeling and simulation is an important design resource that can save cost and time to market, and reduce potential quality issues. However, for this approach to be effective, high quality models are necessary, showing realistic behaviour not merely "ideal" performance. These three new tools from AVX will greatly improve the PC-based design-in process for tantalum and niobium oxide capacitors.

Vishay extends tantalum chip capacitor family
Vishay Intertechnology has announced that it has extended its 298D series of MicroTan solid tantalum chip capacitors to offer an industry-best capacitance-voltage rating in the molded 0402 package size. Leveraging the patented MAP (multi-array packaging) assembly technology, Vishay's 298D MicroTan capacitors have been extended to offer high capacitance-voltage ranges from 4.7μF-4V to 10μF-4V in the ultra-compact 1.0-mm x 0.5-mm 0402 K-case with a low 0.60-mm maximum profile. Murata has introduced what it says is the world's first 0.9 x 0.6mm (0302) 1.0μF 2-element capacitor array, part number GNM0M2R60E105M. This new 0302-size 2-element capacitor array has achieved 1.0μF per element, which is unprecedented even for a single 0.6 x 0.3 mm (0201) device.
