Free-of-charge kits for trialling EMC protection on your military vehicles
News Release from:

Commercial-off-the-shelf or COTS filters from MPE Ltd for EMI/RFI suppression assist the compliance of equipment on military vehicles with DEF STAN 59-411 and MIL-STD-461. Although solutions vary in current rating (3A to 300A) or number of lines (standard 2-line or 1-8 multi-line configurations) to suit the precise application, the type of filter circuit configuration will often be very similar.
The range includes rugged, self-healing feedthrough capacitors, utilized where high-frequency noise is the main problem to be eliminated.
So MPE has identified that most uses call for one of three basic types of filter circuit, as detailed with all necessary installation information in their technical literature. General features include neat and compact enclosures, integral screened flying leads, and screw and through-bulkhead mounting, whilst performance is rated at 90dB in the frequency range from 150kHz up to more than 1GHz.
Now, to facilitate and simplify the choice of filter for dealing with EMI/RFI within military vehicles, MPE has condensed its suppression solutions into one kit of filters that represent the three main configurations of filter circuit. These kits of sample filters / capacitors are available absolutely free-of-charge to design and development engineers needing to quickly define the most effective EMC solutions for their particular military vehicle, covering both its standard equipment or its dedicated military hardware.
So, to obtain the free kit most appropriate to your requirements, just describe your application to the MPE sales team.
Accordingly, MPE filter solution #1 provides multi-line suppression for single- and multi-speed motors, aircon systems, motors for windshield wipers, blowers and washers, etc.
Filter solution #2 comprises paired filter lines offering suppression for applications such as single-speed motors, motors for windshield wipers, blowers and washers, oil cooling fans, engine management systems and dedicated military ancillary equipment. The latter category includes specialist defence applications such as beacons, smoke dischargers, door actuators and turret motors as well as critical ancillaries like shielded containers and communications or medical equipment.
Filter solution #3 consists of feedthrough capacitors for alternators, generators and uses in high-frequency noise suppression.
Mechanical customisation of these standard filter products is also available from MPE where it is impractical to interface a particular solution because of vehicle constraints – confined spaces, an alternative mounting arrangement or termination style, or the connections or shielding requirements.
