API has today revealed the addition of high reliability MIL grade SMPS ceramic capacitors to its Spectrum Control product line. These high-speed switch mode power supply capacitors feature extremely low equivalent series resistance and equivalent series inductance, as well as predictable performance characteristics with changes in temperature, voltage and frequency.

Our hi rel ceramic SMPS capacitors have much less equivalent series resistance than comparable electrolytic and tantalum capacitors, said Larry Howanitz, Vice President, EIS & Sensors divisions of API Technologies.

Ceramic SMPS capacitors are designed for continuous operation at full-rated voltage across their entire temperature range. They are maintenance free and non-toxic. Applications include higher frequency switching power supplies such as resonant DC-DC power supplies and pulse modulated DC-DC converters, or for applications requiring bulk capacitance or energy storage.

A commercial industrial grade alternative in a non-military package configuration is also available.
