Available from specialist distributor Switchtec, redesigned and upgraded switch disconnectors from Telergon offer higher current ratings in smaller housings. The move enables users to save space and/or use more conservatively rated switches in the same space as used previously.
Rocker switch from Quadrant is sealed to IP67
New from Quadrant is a single-pole Marquardt rocker switch that is protected to IP67 making it ideal for use in harsh conditions. The Marquardt 1838 is an attractive, oval switch that is available in a wide range of colours, markings and rocker designs. It has a silk matt surface that is excellent for wear resistant marking and it is fitted with a high quality, convoluted, rubber gaiter seal that provides excellent dust and water protection to IP67.

STMicroelectronics has announced a quad high-side intelligent power switch (IPS) – the VNI4140K – which is produced using the latest generation of ST's VIPower technology to achieve a 50 percent saving in Rds(on) compared to earlier devices with the same die size.

Lock Switch from Lorlin is Colour Keyed
UK switch manufacturer, Lorlin Electronics, announces the introduction of a new model in its WRL series of waterproof miniature key operated lock switches. Featuring a black panel bezel this new switch offers designers more flexibility with panel design and aesthetics. Manufactured at Lorlin's own factory in the UK the WRL waterproof lock switch is a compact, rugged design, simple to mount, occupies a small panel area and projects less than 30mm from the rear of the mounting panel. Sealed to IP66 and IP67 these single or double pole switches may be operated by a single common key or one of up to 200 different combinations. All WRL switches are RoHS compliant and an optional M16 earthing tag may be specified where panels might be insulated.

Live Electronics is releasing Dailywell's PA pushbutton switch series, for cost sensitive applications in harsh environments. A robust, IP67 rated unit with standard circular bezel new PA pushbutton switches come with encapsulated flying lead or rear gold plated silver solder lug terminations as standard, and a choice of snap-in or 12mm diameter threaded mounting with anti-rotation bushing.

Finder has announced the introduction of the 41.81 series of solid-state relays, which offer silent, high-speed switching of AC or DC loads, to meet the need for relays that operate reliably at rapid machine cycle rates, with minimum maintenance and without incurring mechanical wear. The 41.81 series is aimed at designers and system integrators of automation and processing equipment, including mechanical handling, assembly and filling machines, and will be particularly suited to applications requiring high operating speed and long electrical life, especially those where silent operation is also desirable.

High Security Lock Switch
Lorlin Electronics has announced a new model in its highly successful DSL high security mains lock switch range. The new model offers a non-latching spring-return action intended for safety and security applications or where control by authorised users only is essential. The spring-return action is particularly useful for control or reset functions of electronic or electrical equipment or machinery that must not be left unattended during operation.
Mini displacement joystick available from Aerco
Available in the UK from Aerco is what the company says is the world's first precision, two-axis, non-contacting mini displacement joystick. The Ultra MSI Model 5000C offers more tactility than a mini-force joystick, converting operator input to analogue output voltages proportional to angle of the joystick. A highly ergonomic knob provides tactile feedback to the operator even when used with gloves.
Capacitive touch chip includes power management functions
Quantum Research Group has announced the newest member of its family of capacitive touch sensor products. The QT102, available in a SOT-23-6 package, is a unique one-channel touch on/touch off sensor chip with integral power management and safety functionality. These functions make it perfect for battery-driven applications and mains-driven products with stringent power management requirements, such as kitchen and home appliances.
Vandal Proof Push Button Switches for Secure Applications
knitter-switch, Europe's largest switch manufacturer, announces the introduction of its new range of vandal-proof push button switches. The PV series switches have been designed for applications in harsh environments, where security and reliability are paramount. McGeoch and Polham Controls select Finder relays for use in Type 45 Destroyer heating and lighting systems
Finder has announced that its relays have been specified by two suppliers of equipment that will be installed in the new Type 45 anti-air warfare destroyers being commissioned for use by the Royal Navy. All the components and systems used on the ship are required to conform to the most stringent quality and reliability specifications, although the use of commercial (COTS) products has been permitted for non-critical applications in the Type 45 provided they meet the necessary specifications, including shock testing.

Lorlin Electronics has announced the introduction of the RMS Rotary Mains Switch. This RoHS compliant miniature switch has many applications in industrial, domestic and portable equipment such as control panels, lighting and test equipment. Device is designed to increase relay operating lifetime up to to 10 times longer
IES5541A from Hendon Semiconductors is said to be capable of extending relay electrical operating life up to 10 times longer while allowing the relay to be switched at a higher rate for an easier and more effective way of providing relay contact protection circuit. The IES5541A is an integrated circuit that provides effective relay contact arc suppression. The IES5541A has been designed (patent pending) to provide relay contact protection enabling relays to achieve extended operating lifetime up to ten times longer (over 1 million switches) than non-protected relays.
Low profile relay for industrial HVAC applications
Omron is addressing the industrial automation and HVAC markets with a new power relay offering an exceptionally low profile solution whilst conforming to an industry standard footprint. The new Omron G6RL has an overall height of just 12.3mm, nearly 20% lower than existing solutions and is capable of switching 8A at 250VAC. Aimed at boiler control applications in the HVAC market, or PLC, timer and temperature controller applications in industrial automation, the relay can withstand at least 100 thousand operations at the rated load, and has a mechanical life of 10 million operations.
Miniaturized Solid State Relays
Avago Technologies has announced an expansion of its solid state relay (MOSFET) family of opto-isolation products. The company is a leading supplier of analog interface components for communications, industrial and consumer applications. With input drive as low as 2mA and fast switching speeds of less than 0.5ms, Avago's new ASSR-301C/302C and ASSR-401C/402C are specifically designed for sensing and multiplexing applications, such as test and measurement and data acquisition systems, where low power consumption and high system throughput are essential.

Now available in the UK from Quadrant is a range of high-performance, IP65 rated rocker switches from Marquardt, an independently owned German company that was formed in 1925 and is based in Reitheim-Weilheim.
New full and half pitch Piano switches and DIP slide switches with excellent contact stability
International distributor ECOMAL based in Berkshire, UK announced the new full (2,54 mm) and half pitch (1,27 mm) Piano switches series of Nidec Copal Electronics. The new switches are compatible with lead-free soldering and the gold-plated contacts guarantee excellent contact stability.

16mm Stainless Steel Pushbutton Switches
The first of Bulgin's new range is a compact switch extending less than 21mm behind the panel. These single pole, momentary, push to make switches are rated at 2A, 48Vdc and are capable of 100,000 operations at full load and 1,000,000 mechanical operations. There are three button styles; flush, domed and prominent, and all switch variants have screw terminals. The MP0042 is manufactured in stainless steel with a polished finish. The MP0044 is manufactured in gold plated brass to give an extra touch of quality. These tough, attractive switches will find themselves at home on panels and equipment where a robust and but aesthetically pleasing switch is needed.
