C&K Components has designed a cost-effective, low-profile tactile switch for a wide range of price-sensitive applications, including smart meters, smoke/fire detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. Designated the KSE Series, the momentary-action tactile switch combines rugged IP67-rated sealing, reliability and a long-operating life with a new optimized and economical design.

C&K Components Develops Low-Profile IP67-Sealed Tactile Switch For Smart Meter and Detection ApplicationsBased on C&K's proven designs for severe applications, including automotive and off-highway, the new KSE Series tactile switch provides the reliability and ruggedness required for harsh environment conditions in a low-profile, economical package,” said Eric Grange, product manager at C&K Components. “The KSE Series is ideal for price-sensitive applications where low-end tactile switches cannot fit.”

The single pole single throw (SPST) KSE Series features mechanical parameters based on a force of 1.5 ± 0.5N, tactile travel of 0.3 +0.1/-0.2mm, and an operational life of 300,000 cycles. Featuring a maximum power rating of 1VA, maximum voltage rating of 32VDC and an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, the IP 67-rated KSE Series is available in J bend & Gullwing terminations for SMT.

The KSE Series is also well suited for consumer, home appliance, security and safety device, and telecommunication applications.
