New PCB test points for high temperature solder

News Release from: Aerco Limited
13 April 2011

Aerco now stocks a new range of high temperature HT SMOX surface-mount test points, an extension of the popular range of PCB interconnect products from Oxley Developments.

New PCB test points for high temperature solderHigher temperature versions have been introduced to cater for more aggressive soldering profiles that have sustained temperatures above 200°C as used, for instance, while using RoHS compliant SAC solder. The HT SMOX test points have an additional nickel undercoat to give a more robust finish that ensures the correct adhesion properties are achieved at higher temperatures.

The SMOX range features unique select-on test terminals that provide accurate line tests in PCB assembly. It is the only surface-mount ball and socket test point available on the market being designed to provide low contact resistance and easy connection and detachment.

SMOX test points are available loose or on tape-and-reel for ease of assembly and can be placed accurately by pick-and-place machines, even in the most congested board layouts. High quality solder joints against IPC 610 Class 3 can be achieved at temperatures between 179 to 300°C for SN62 and between 225 and 300°C for 96S and SAC.
