Texas Instruments Incorporated has introduced a new 6-V, 6-A synchronous integrated power module with integrated inductor, which achieves an industry-best 750 watts per cubic inch and peak power efficiency up to 97 percent. The TPS84610 provides excellent thermal performance of 12°C/W, which is 40-percent better than competing modules. The device simplifies telecom power designs for DSPs and FPGAs by combining the inductor and passives onto one lead frame, requiring only three external components for a complete, easy-to-design 150-mm2 solution. Industry’s First Digital Power Factor Correction Controller with Power Metering Offers Interleaving and Bridgeless Functionality
Analog Devices has announced the ADP1048, the first interleaved digital power factor correction (PFC) controller with highly accurate AC power metering capability. Similar to the ADP1047 single-phase digital PFC controller (announced March, 2011), the interleaved (or dual-phase) ADP1048 uses conventional, continuous-conduction-mode PFC techniques to reduce harmonic distortion. The ADP1048 can be configured as an interleaved design to reduce inductor size and replace the AC/DC rectifier to improve efficiency in bridgeless boost mode.
Ultravolt Extends Line Of Enhanced Floating Hot-Deck Power Supplies
UltraVolt, Inc., has announced the extension of its EFL Series of enhanced floating "hot-deck" isolated power supplies. EFL Series units were originally offered up to 15kV of isolation; now the line can achieve up to 30kV of isolation. The EFL Series of "hot-deck" isolated system modules are already know for simplifying designs that have electronics highly isolated and/or truly floating on high voltage. Designers just apply power, signals, and controls to the module and have an output isolated by 150GΩ (15kV) or 2GΩ (30kV), and AC leakage capacitance of <40pF (all models). The new 30kV version of the EFL Series achieves a 100% increase in withstand voltage in only a 5.7 in3 increase in volume.

Renewable energies are now becoming an ever-growing alternative to generating electricity. This is the case of power generation through windmills. The power injection on the network must be done cleanly; this means that the power generating must inject it with RF noise free. The radio frequency noise that typically range from 10kHz to 30MHz is unintentionally injected into the network and therefore requires the use of an appropriate filter element: this is both the desired frequency range, such as attenuation and current capacity required.
