PSMA Announces On-Line Energy Efficiency Database

The Power Sources Manufacturers Association (PSMA) has announced the availability of an online database containing the evolving standards and regulations for energy efficiency. This online database, available through the Energy Efficiency Forum on the PSMA web site, includes the various organizations – state, national and worldwide – that are active in establishing energy efficiency standards and regulations for power supplies used in commercial applications.

For each organization, the database includes the specific application(s), the most recent status of the standard(s), identifies critical documents, meetings and milestones, and provides a link(s) to the appropriate web sites of the controlling organization. The information in the database is being updated on a regular basis and is believed to be the most complete and current source available in the industry. The information in the database is critical for organizations designing power systems for applications in the global marketplace that are required to satisfy the present and evolving energy efficiency standards in their target markets.

PSMA has contracted with Anagenesis, Inc . to update and maintain the database. This valuable information resource is currently available for a limited time to the industry through the PSMA web site. Access to the database is from the Efficiency Database tab in the Energy Efficiency Forum that is accessed from the home page of the PSMA web site. In the future, the database will only be available from the Members Only portion of the PSMA web site.

Dusty Becker, co-chair of the PSMA Energy Efficiency Committee, stated, The ongoing activities world- wide in establishing new and sometimes conflicting energy efficiency standards and regulations are affecting all companies as they design their new products for global markets. This database is a valuable resource for engineers and product planners to keep abreast of ongoing activities and to access the latest version of the standards. We are pleased to make this resource available to our membership and to the industry.

Tim Cassidy, co-chair of the PSMA Energy Efficiency Committee, noted, the PSMA Energy Efficiency Committee is acting in an advisory role and industry resource for a number of state and federal organizations involved in developing new energy efficiency standards and regulations for a variety of applications. The committee is also closely monitoring similar activities in major industrial nations and encouraging the harmonization of standards on a global basis.
