The A6210 from Allegro MicroSystems Europe is an LED driver IC based on a buck (stepdown) regulator circuit using constant 'on' time with valley current-mode control. NXP unveils suite of efficient power supply products

Maxim introduced the MAX15023, a low-cost, dual-output, synchronous step-down controller capable of driving external MOSFETs to deliver at least 12A per output. Operating over a wide, 4.5V to 28V input range, this device integrates a ±1% accurate voltage reference to provide an accurate output voltage from 0.6V to 85% of the input voltage.
Integrated PoE-PD Controllers from ON Semiconductor Meet Upcoming IEEE PoE+ Standard
ON Semiconductor has announced that its NCP1081 and NCP1083 integrated Power-over-Ethernet Powered Device (PoE-PD) / DC-DC converter controllers have been verified to meet the upcoming IEEE802.3at standard for high power communications applications. Both devices have not only passed the IEEE 802.3af standard tests but have also been verified by the University of New Hampshire Interoperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) for the recent draft IEEE 802.3at (D3.1) standard - which includes a test of the two event physical layer classification.

Micrel introduces Dual Non-Synchronous PWM Buck Regulators
Micrel has announced a new family of dual Non-Synchronous PWM buck regulators. Operating at 2 MHz and 4 MHz, with a maximum load current of 2Amps per channel, the MIC4742 (2MHz) and MIC4744 (4MHz) are the latest additions to the popular low-voltage family of small footprint, non-synchronous buck regulators. The ICs address the designer's need for a dual regulator solution for the popular 5 and 3.3V buses, as well as the need for smaller footprint and substantial cost savings.
Boost Converters with Output Disconnect in 2mm x 3mm DFN Package from Linear Technology
Linear Technology has announced the LT3495/-1 low noise boost converters with integrated power switches, Schottky diodes and output disconnect circuitry. The LT3495 uses a 650mA switch whereas the LT3495-1 uses a 350mA switch. Both parts are packaged in a 2mm x 3mm DFN-10 package. Their wide 2.3V to 16V input voltage range enables them to operate from single cell Li-Ion batteries up to fixed 12V input rails, delivering outputs up to 40V.

Maxim has introduced the MAX9610, a high-side, current-sense amplifier that provides precision monitoring for portable applications. This input range is excellent for monitoring the current of a single-cell, lithium-ion (Li+) battery, which at full-charge is 4.2V, typically 3.6V in normal use, and less than 2.9V when ready to be recharged. TrenchFET Power MOSFET in MICRO FOOT Chipscale Package
Vishay has released what it says is the industry's first TrenchFET power MOSFET in the chipscale MICRO FOOT package to feature backside insulation. The Si8422DB is optimized for power amplifier, battery, and load switching in portable devices such as cell phones, PDAs, digital cameras, MP3 players, and smart phones. The 2-mil backside coating of the device insulates the top of the MICRO FOOT package to electrical shorts from being created by temporary contact with moving parts in portable devices.
Fully Integrated Wide-Input Range Boost Regulators from Micrel
Micrel has introduced the MIC2605/6, two boost regulators operating at 1.2MHz (MIC2605) and 2MHz (MIC2606). Both devices supply up to 0.5A switch current. The devices, which complement Micrel's recently introduced MIC2601/2 family, are aimed at TV-tuners, broadband communications, TFT-LCD bias supplies, positive output regulators, SEPIC converters, DSL applications and local boost regulators. The ICs are currently available in volume quantities, with pricing starting at $0.98 for 1K quantities.

TI’s new power-distribution switches provide highly accurate current limits
Four new power-distribution switches from Texas Instruments enable end equipment to handle heavy capacitive loads while preventing short-circuits in a variety of applications, such as USB ports/hubs, cell phones, laptops, flat panel TVs and set-top boxes. The new chips offer a programmable current-limit threshold from 75 mA to 1.3 A via an external resister with up to 6 percent accuracy.

TI's 0.7-V input boost converter supports 5 µA operating current
Texas Instruments has introduced a 2-MHz DC/DC boost converter that operates at 5 µA of quiescent current, while maintaining a high efficiency at light load conditions. The integrated circuit supports an input voltage of 0.7 V to 5.5 V and an output voltage range of 1.8 V to 5.5 V, extending battery life in low-power microcontroller-based designs, such as single AA or coin-cell alkaline applications.
