Maxim Integrated Products has introduced the MAX14521E, a ±15kV ESD-protected, quad-output driver for multiple electroluminescent (EL) lamps. This EL driver utilizes an inductor-based boost converter to generate a high 300Vp-p (max) voltage for maximum EL lamp brightness. A high-voltage, full-bridge output converts this high voltage to the AC waveform required to drive an EL lamp.
Atmel - Low Power Cryptographic Battery Authentication IC
Atmel has announced its AT88SA100S ultra low-cost, cryptographic battery authentication IC for mobile-phones, cameras, portable power tools, and other battery-powered applications. The AT88SA100S CrytpoAuthentication IC is the only battery authentication IC that uses a SHA-256 cryptographic engine and a 256-bit key that cannot be cracked using brute force methods. It is used to protect mobile phones, portable power tools, cameras, and other microcontroller-based products from counterfeit battery packs.

Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX15027-MAX15030 low-dropout linear regulators that operate from a 1.425V to 3.6V input voltage and deliver up to 1A (MAX15027/MAX15028) or 500mA (MAX15029/MAX15030) of output current. In addition, the MAX15028/MAX15030 feature a bias input that allows the devices to be powered from an independent supply, making them suitable for always-on power supplies in automotive applications. The bias input allows the regulator's input to reduce current to a mere 2microamps (max) during shutdown. This family of power-saving LDO regulators can dissipate up to 1.9W at +70 degrees Celsius and is ideal for a wide array of applications, including networking, storage, server, and telecom equipment.

Vishay Siliconix Releases Asymmetric Dual Power MOSFET in 6 by 3.7mm Package
Vishay has introduced the first device in a series of co-packaged, asymmetric power MOSFET pairs that reduces the space required for the high- and low-side power MOSFETs in dc-to-dc converters. The industry-first SiZ700DT in the new PowerPAIR package, which measures 6-mm by 3.7-mm, combines a low-side and high-side MOSFET in one compact device while still obtaining low on-resistance and high maximum current, saving space over using two discrete solutions. The height of PowerPAIR is 0.75 mm typical, or 28 % thinner than the PowerPAK 1212-8 and PowerPAK SO-8, which both have a 1.04-mm profile.

Extending its family of easy-to-use SWIFT power management ICs, Texas Instruments has introduced waht it says is the industry's smallest single-chip, 6-A, 17-V step-down synchronous switcher with integrated FETs. The high-performance TPS54620 is 60 percent smaller than today's multi-chip converters, resulting in a complete 6-A power solution less than 195 mm2 -- one-fourth the size of a postage stamp.

Linear Technology has announced a new high reliability grade version of the LTC4444-5, a high-speed, high input supply voltage (100V), synchronous MOSFET driver designed to drive upper and lower power N-Channel MOSFETs in synchronous rectified converter topologies. This driver, combined with power MOSFETs and one of Linear Technology's many DC/DC controllers, forms a complete high efficiency synchronous regulator. The LTC4444MP-5 operates, and is 100% tested over a junction temperature range of -55°C to 125°C, compared to the I grade version's -40°C to 85°C operating temperature range.

Linear Technology has announced the LT3008, the newest member in a family of high voltage, micropower PNP-based LDOs featuring ultralow quiescent current of just 3uA. The LT3008 has high input voltage capability, spanning 2.0V to 45V with an adjustable output voltage ranging from 0.6V to 36V. The IC delivers up to 20mA output current with a corresponding low dropout voltage of only 300mV. Output tolerance is tightly regulated to within ±2% over line, load and temperature.
