TI introduces 3-MHz, 2-A DC/DC converters for portable electronics
Texas Instruments today introduced two highly efficient 2-A step-down DC/DC converters for portable electronics applications. The TPS62065 and TPS62067 3-MHz synchronous converters reduces board space and helps extend battery life by providing up to 95 percent power efficiency from a tiny 2-mm x 2-mm x 0.75-mm SON package.
6A, 4MHz, Synchronous Step-Down Regulator in a 3mm x 5mm QFN
The LTC3616 is a high efficiency, 4MHz synchronous buck regulator from Linear Technology that incorporates a constant frequency, current mode architecture. Low resistance internal switches allow the LTC3616 to deliver up to 6A of continuous output current from a 3mm x 5mm QFN package and its low dropout operation allows the output voltage to range from 0.6V to just millivolts below VIN. The LTC3616 operates from an input voltage of 2.25V to 5.5V, making it ideal for single-cell Li-Ion applications as well as 3.3V or 5V intermediate bus systems. Its switching frequency is user programmable from 300kHz to 4MHz, enabling the use of tiny, low cost capacitors and inductors.
20V Step-Down DC-to-DC Non-Synchronous Regulators Simplify Intermediate Power Bus and Point-of-load Power Designs
Analog Devices, introduced the ADP2300 and ADP2301 dc-to-dc switching regulators, the most recent in their growing portfolio of integrated power management switching regulators. The new 20V 1.2A (amp) step-down, dc-to-dc switching regulators integrate a high-side MOSFET that delivers power conversion efficiencies greater than 90 percent. The new regulators also feature internal loop compensation, integrated soft-start circuitry and bootstrap diodes to enable high-density solutions for intermediate bus generation and point-of-load regulation. The highly integrated ADP2300 and ADP2301 are available in small TSOT packages.
Analog Devices Expands Range of Constant On-Time, Synchronous Buck Controllers
Analog Devices introduced two current-mode, synchronous buck controllers that support input-power voltages ranging from 2.95 V to 20 V. The ADP1870 and ADP1871 synchronous buck controllers provide superior transient response through the use of a constant on-time, current-mode control system. The devices are suited to intermediate rail or point-of-load generation in consumer, industrial and instrumentation, and telecommunications and networking applications.
Dual Output High Efficiency Synchronous DC/DC Controller Draws Only 50uA in Battery-Powered Systems
Linear Technology has introduced the LTC3857/-1, an ultralow quiescent current, 2-phase dual output synchronous step-down DC/DC controller that draws only 50uA when one output is active and only 80uA when both outputs are enabled. With both outputs shut down, the LTC3857/-1 draws a mere 8uA.

Maxim introduces the MAX8922L, a 30V, single-input lithium-ion (Li+) charger with a 2.3A GSM test mode. The inclusion of a GSM test mode facilitates production-line calibration and testing of devices with a Micro-USB connector. Using this charger, designers can quickly calibrate their GSM phones without having to install a battery. The MAX8922L is well suited for GSM, EDGE, UMTS, and CDMA cell phones.

Microchip announces the MCP1640 Synchronous Boost Regulator, which features an operating voltage down to 0.35V, quiescent current as low as 19µA, and shutdown current of less than 1µA. I2C Battery Gas Gauges for Single Li-Ion Cells Offers 1% Accuracy
Linear Technology Corporation introduces the LTC2941/LTC2942 battery gas gauges with an I2C interface for 2.7V to 5.5V systems. Unlike most coulomb counters that infer charge by sampling the current and integrating digitally, the LTC2941/LTC2942 use a continuous-time analog integrator to measure charge directly, resulting in minimal offset and gain error and better overall charge accuracy. The LTC2941 measures the charge flowing in and out of a battery to within 1% accuracy at room temperature. The LTC2942 does the same while also incorporating a 14-bit No Latency Δ∑ ADC to measure battery voltage and die temperature to within 1.3% and ±5°C accuracy, respectively.
MAX16067/68: 6-channel system managers with nonvolatile fault memory facilitate diagnostics
Maxim introduced the MAX16067/MAX16068, flash-configurable sequencers/monitors that simplify power management and fault diagnostics. These devices integrate a ±1%-accurate ADC for voltage monitoring/sequencing in complex systems where high reliability is critical. Additionally, they feature nonvolatile fault registers to store and read back fault data. An easy-to-use graphical configuration tool eliminates the need for tedious, time-consuming programming of complex devices like CPLDs and microprocessors. The MAX16067/MAX16068 are well suited for networking, telecom, servers, and data-storage applications.
NEC Electronics - Four New Intelligent Power Devices for Automotive Lighting Applications
NEC Electronics announced four new intelligent power devices (IPDs), the µPD166017, µPD166019, µPD166020 and uPD166021. Each high-side IPD is applicable for automotive lighting and other critical vehicle loads. Designed for on-board electronic control units (ECUs) typically used in head- and fog-light applications, the new devices, or power ICs, have an embedded power MOSFET for switching and a control chip for protection features in a single package.
LT3758-100V Input DC/DC Controller Generates Positive or Negative Regulated Output
Linear Technology has announced the LT3758, a high input voltage DC/DC controller for boost, flyback, SEPIC and inverting power supply applications, capable of generating either positive or negative regulated output voltages. The LT3758 has two voltage feedback error amplifiers and reference voltages. One set is for positive output voltages, the other is for negative output voltages, both off a single feedback pin, making the LT3758 a highly versatile DC/DC controller for many types of power supply designs.

Dual Positive/Negative ±20VIN ±150mA LDO Offers 20µVRMS Noise
Linear Technology Corporation announces the LT3032, a dual, low noise, positive/negative low dropout voltage linear regulator. The device delivers up to ±150mA continuous output current on each channel with a 300mV dropout voltage at full load. The LT3032 features a wide input voltage range of ±2.3V to ±20V, delivering adjustable output voltages from ±1.22V to ±20V. A single capacitor provides ultralow noise operation only 20µVRMS across a wide bandwidth of 10Hz to 100kHz for the positive output rail, and only 30µVRMS for the negative rail. The LT3032's output voltage tolerance is highly accurate at ±3% over line, load and temperature. The device's wide input and output voltage ranges, fast transient response and low quiescent current of 30µA per channel (operating) and <3µA in shutdown (total) make it an excellent choice for portable battery-powered systems that require optimum run time, and for use in bipolar op amp/instrumentation power supply and low noise supply applications.

Linear Technology Corporation announces the LTC3865/-1, a 95% efficient, dual output synchronous step-down DC/DC controller with 2-pin selectable VOUT programming, a feature that saves 4 precision feedback resistors. The output voltages maintain a tight ±1% accuracy including initial set-point, a -40°C to 125°C operating temperature range and load/line regulation. Nine selectable output voltages ranging from 0.6V to 5V are possible. The 4.5V to 38V input voltage range encompasses a wide variety of applications including most intermediate bus voltages and battery chemistries. The strong on-board N-channel MOSFET driver enables the use of high power external MOSFETs to produce output currents as high as 20A. Linear Technology announced the LTC3127, a 96% efficient, synchronous buck-boost converter that delivers up to 1A of output current to a regulated output voltage with inputs above, below or equal to the output. The LTC3127 features a ±4% accurate programmable average input current limit with a 200mA to 1000mA range, making it ideal for GSM modems or Supercapacitor chargers powered from sources with hard limits on output current. This enables system designers to maximize the current draw from a limited power source, significantly improving data rates or charging times.

CISSOID introduces a new family of P-channel high temperature power MOSFET transistors
CISSOID, leader in high temperature semiconductor solutions, introduced VENUS, their new family of High Temperature 30V P-channel power MOSFET Transistors guaranteed for operation from -55°C up to +225°C. The VENUS family of P-channel power MOSFETs named CHT-PMOS3002, CHT-PMOS3004 and CHT-PMOS3008 are rated respectively for 2A, 4A and 8A maximum drain current.
