Linear Technology has announced the LT3980, a 2A, 58VIN step-down switching regulator with Burst Mode operation to maintain quiescent current under 85µA. The LT3980 operates within a VIN range of 3.6V to 58V, with overvoltage lockout protection against transients as high as 80V, making the device ideal for load dump and cold-crank conditions commonly found in automotive applications. Its internal 3.4A switch can deliver up to 2A of continuous output current at voltages as low as 0.79V. The LT3980's Burst Mode operation provides ultralow quiescent current, well suited for applications such as automotive or telecom systems, which have always-on circuits and demand optimal battery life.

The new SC283 is the world's smallest 1.8A dual-channel regulator for point-of-load (POL) applications, combining two step-down regulators in an ultra-small, low-profile 2 x 3 x 0.8mm, 18-pad MLPQ package. With integrated VID pins to enable independent configuration and control of the output voltages of each regulator, the SC283 eliminates the need for two pairs of external feedback resistors, further reducing the overall design footprint of the device. The devices feature ultra-high power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) performance and as low as 16uVrms of output noise. The TPS7A30 generates 200 mA, while the TPS7A49 manages 150 mA.
2A, 42V Boost Converter Now Offered in High Temperature H & MP Grades
Linear Technology announced the H-grade and MP-grade versions of the LT3580, a current-mode, fixed frequency step-up DC/DC converter with internal 2A, 42V switch. The device operates from an input voltage range of 2.5V to 32V, making it suitable for applications with input sources ranging from a single-cell Li-Ion to automotive inputs. The H-grade version operates with a junction temperature range of -40°C to 150°C, whereas the MP-grade operates with a junction temperature range of -55°C to 125°C. This compares to the E- and I-grade versions' 125°C maximum junction temperature. All electrical specifications are identical for the E, I, H and MP. Linear Technology announced the LTC3675, a highly integrated general-purpose power management solution for high power single cell Lithium-Ion/Polymer cell systems. The device features seven independent rails, with I2C control, flexible sequencing and fault monitoring in a compact 28mm2 QFN package. The LTC3675 contains four high efficiency synchronous step-down regulators, a high current/high efficiency buck-boost regulator, a synchronous boost regulator, a dual-string 40V-LED driver and an always-on LDO. Pushbutton ON/OFF/RESET control, precision enable inputs and a power-on reset output provide flexible and reliable power-up sequencing. The LTC3675's I2C interface provides complete regulator control, status reporting and a maskable interrupt output. Quiescent current is only 16uA with all DC/DCs off to maximize battery run time.
500mA ''CL Capacitorless'' CMOS LDO Regulator
The new XC6503 series from Torex, integrates internal phase compensation circuitry, removing the need for expensive output capacitors and dramatically reducing the necessary PCB layout area. 500mA Negative Micropower LDO Offers New High Reliability Grade Operating Down to -55°C
Linear Technology Corporation announces a new high reliability, military plastic MP-grade version of the LT1175, a 500mA negative micropower low dropout regulator. The MP-grade LT1175 is offered in SOIC-8 and DD-Pak packages with a -55°C to +125°C operating junction temperature range. With a wide input voltage range of -4.3V to -20V, the LT1175 features micropower operating currents of 45uA quiescent and 10uA in shutdown, preventing output voltage rise under no-load conditions. The device's reference amplifier topology ensures precision DC characteristics and the ability to maintain good loop stability with a wide range of output capacitors. The device's power transistor anti-saturation design enables very low dropout voltage of 500mV (typical at full load). Fixed 5V and adjustable (-3.8V to -19.5V) output voltage versions are available.

SOT23 Voltage Reference Offers 10ppm/°C Drift While Limiting Noise to Only 1.6ppm
Linear Technology introduced the LT6654, a SOT23 series voltage reference designed specifically for precision operation from -40°C to 125°C. This voltage reference combines 0.05% initial accuracy, 10ppm temperature drift and low frequency noise of only 1.6ppm. The LT6654 can operate on a supply voltage as low as 100mV above the output, and it maintains a line regulation error of only 5ppm/V on a supply voltage up to 36V. The buffered output enables source or sink capability up to 10mA, and limits load regulation error to only 8ppm/mA.
