SMT connectors for Flexible Printed Circuits

Harwin has released the F08 series of surface mount, 0.8mm pitch connectors for use with Flexible Printed Circuits (FPC) or flat conductor planar cables. Supplied in tubes and tape and reel packaging with two contact variations – horizontal top and horizontal bottom – SMT metal solder-down tabs provide additional strain relief. Available with 4 to 30 contacts, F08 connectors are also zero insertion force devices, simplifying assembly and minimising the risk of damage.

F08 connectors have a UL94V-0 rated, high temperature thermoplastic housing and the copper alloy contacts are tin plated. Devices are suitable for surface mount processing up to 235degC for five seconds and offer a solder heat resistance of 260degC for 10 seconds, F08 connectors have a current rating of 0.5A, contact resistance of 20mΩ (max) and an insulation resistance of 50MΩ (min). Operating temperature range is -20 to +85degC.
