Cypress Introduces Industry's Highest Throughput Pipelined Global Shutter CMOS Image Sensor
Cypress Semiconductor introduced a high-sensitivity, high-speed CMOS image sensor targeted for the high-end machine vision market. The new 25-megapixel VITA 25K sensor offers the market's highest throughput for a device with a pipelined and triggered global shutter. The sensor has 32 10-bit digital Low Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) outputs that enable transfer of image data over a standard industry protocol at low power and low noise. Each channel runs at a 620 Mbps, which results in a high frame rate of 53 frames-per-second (fps) at full resolution for undistorted images and fast readout. The VITA 25K is ideal for high-end machine vision applications, such as inspection machines; biometric inspection, such as next-generation palm print readers; and intelligent traffic systems.
OmniVision - 1/4-Inch, 5-MP RAW Image Sensor for Mobile Apps
OmniVision Technologies a leading developer of advanced digital imaging solutions, today announced a new ¼-inch, 5-megapixel RAW CMOS image sensor based on its 1.4-micron OmniBSI backside illumination (BSI) technology. The OV5647 is a cost-effective, high-performance mobile imaging solution, offering the performance and size benefits of BSI technology while allowing mobile phone designs to utilize existing baseband or applications processors for image processing functions.
Background suppression photosensor offers two operating modes and best-of-breed range
New from Carlo Gavazzi is a diffuse photoelectric sensor extending the company's background suppression technology out to long-range operation. The new PD112 offers one-touch switching between door mode for entrance control applications and industrial mode for standard applications like packaging, wrapping and material handling and timber processing.
Thumb-Sized MOEMS Mini-Spectrometer for Visible Light Spectrometry
Hamamatsu Photonics has introduced the C10988MA, an ultra-compact spectrometer built using MOEMS technology. The C10988MA is a thumb-sized device, measuring only 27.6 x 13 x 16.8 mm, developed for use in portable and hand-held devices, where a standard mini-spectrometer would be too large and consume too much power. Not only small, but the C10988MA is also light, weighing only 9 grams.
Optek Develops Miniature Infrared Surface Mount Reflective Object Sensor
Providing design engineers with an economical device for non-contact sensing applications, TT electronics OPTEK Technology has developed a new reflective object sensor in a miniature surface mount package. Designated the OPB733TR device, the infrared sensor uses a lensed IR LED and phototransistor elements to collimate the light beam, giving the device an optimizing detection range from 0.4 (10mm) to 1.0 (25.4mm). In addition, the minimum phototransistor output current of 100mA eliminates the need for external amplification of the output signal, thus simplifying the drive circuitry.
