Maxim is now shipping the MAX11156, the industry's smallest 12-pin, 18-bit successive approximation register analog-to-digital converter. Available in a tiny 3mm x 3mm TDFN package, the MAX11156 integrates an internal reference and reference buffer, saving cost and at least 70% board space over competing solutions. With 18-bit resolution, this high-performance ADC features Beyond-the-Rails technology, which supports a ±5V input from a single positive 5V input rail.
Software Supported Optimisation Of D/A Converters
Nowadays many microcontrollers have an internal D/A converter with a resolution of 8-12 bits. This is enough to meet most application requirements but sometimes a higher resolution is needed. A lower resolution may also be good enough if the D/A converter has ideal characteristics, but often non-linearity means the D/A converter can't be used.

Touchstone Semiconductor announced today the TS9002 dual and the TS9004 quad low power analog comparators plus 1.182-V reference integrated circuits. As an improved, pin-for-pin functional equivalent to the MAX923, the TS9002's 3.2-µA supply current is 16% lower and its ±0.75% initial accuracy voltage reference is 25% lower in both specifications compared to the MAX923.
