Fujitsu launches new SPI FRAMs in 0.18µm technology
Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe is sampling customers with the new SPI FRAMs based on its 0.18µm technology. With this step, Fujitsu approaches the end of the migration process from 0.35 to 0.18µm technology achieving the industry-leading FRAM performance with E2PROM compatible package.
ON Semiconductor expands serial EEPROM portfolio - Introduction includes new high density devices for the automotive, medical, and consumer markets
ON Semiconductor has released new EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) devices for the automotive, medical, and consumer markets. The EEPROM devices include the high density 512 kilobit (kb) CAT24C512 and 1 megabit (Mb) CAT24M01, which have a 1.8 volt (V) to 5.5 V supply voltage range. The CAT24C512 and CAT24M01 employ 256 byte and 128 byte page write buffers respectively. Both devices support Standard 100 kilohertz (kHz), Fast 400 kHz, and Fast-Plus 1 megahertz (MHz) serial I2C protocols. These devices are manufactured on a 0.18 micrometer (µm) low power CMOS process at the ON Semiconductor owned and operated Gresham, Oregon facility.
Microchip expands Serial Quad I/O family with 3V 32-Mbit SQI serial Flash memory
Microchip just announced that it has expanded its Serial Quad I/O (SQI) Flash memory family with the new 3V, 32-Mbit SQI Flash memory, SST26VF032. Building on the success of the SST26 Series family, the 4-bit, multiplexed I/O SST26VF032 features an enhanced serial-interface architecture that provides low-power, high-performance and flexible data/code-protection schemes. With an 80 MHz operating frequency and a specialised instruction set, the SST26VF032 targets execute-in-place (XIP) applications, allowing programmes to be stored and executed directly from the Flash memory. This increases overall system performance without the need for code shadowing on a RAM device. The SST26VF032's compact 6 mm x 5 mm, 8-pin WSON and 8-pin SOIC package options reduce board space and lower system costs. This device is ideal for a wide variety of applications, such as mobile handsets, DVD and Blu-ray™ players, printers, digital TVs, network appliances, GPS devices, DSL and cable modems, smart meters and more.

OEMs set to save space with externally mounted rugged portable memory
Nexus GB has released the Datakey Electronics Bar Series of rugged, portable memory products, consisting of memory tokens and mating receptacles. The Bar series receptacle features an on surface mounting system, which allows Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to add a portable data carrier to their product without giving up large amounts of panel space or interior volume. Fischer Rugged Flash Drive Protects Sensitive Data in the Field

FeRAM: The non-volatile memory solution
OKI Semiconductor (part of the ROHM Group) is developing a new memory technology called ferroelectric RAM (FeRAM). This new series will amend the memory line-up of the ROHM Group, which already consists of EEPROM, DRAM and P2ROM and is presented at PCIM in Nuremberg (May 17-19, Hall 12, Booth 480).

Ramtron Announces Wide Voltage Serial and Parallel F-RAM
Ramtron International Corporation today announced its W-Family of F-RAM memory. Ramtron Expands F-RAM V-Family with New Automotive-Grade Serial 128-Kilobit Devices
Ramtron International added two new serial F-RAM devices to its V-Family product line that meet stringent AEC-Q100 Grade 3 automotive qualification standards.
