Synopsys and Actel renew OEM relationship for FPGA design software
Synopsys and Actel Corporation today announced a multi-year extension of their OEM agreement for FPGA design tools. Under the terms of the agreement, Actel maintains rights to provide Actel-specific versions of Synopsys' Synplify Pro, Identify and Synplify DSP software as part of the Libero Integrated Design Environment (IDE). Actel has been offering these products to its customers for more than 10 years through an OEM agreement with Synplicity, which was acquired by Synopsys in May 2008. The objective is to provide highly optimised software solutions for Actel's complete portfolio of FPGA products, including the IGLOO, Actel Fusion and RTAX families of FPGAs.
Spectral Sensor Systems from MAZeT for Process Analytics
MAZeT has introduced multi-range spectral sensors that MAZeT uses as basis for developing and supplying application-specific sensor modules for its customers. The sensors can be adapted to the particular application both in regard to the number of spectral channels and the spectral transmission characteristics of each channel. The first sensor presented in this design has six spectral channels, whose filters from 400 nm to 700 nm overlap one another and are uniformly distributed over this range.

Available shortly from Nu Horizons is the next generation of Xilinx's Spartan FPGAs for cost-sensitive applications. The eleven-member Spartan-6 family delivers expanded densities ranging from 3,400 to 148,000 logic cells, with half the power consumption of previous Spartan families and faster, more comprehensive connectivity. There are two FPGA platforms within the Spartan-6 family.
