Infineon Ranks First in Chips for Automotive Electronics
Infineon has advanced to become the world's foremost supplier of chips for automotive electronics, according to the most recent study published by Strategy Analytics. The U.S.-based market researcher reports that Infineon captured a 9.0 percent share of the global market with sales totaling $US1.31 billion in 2009. Infineon strengthened its market position even though it was a crisis year for the automobile industry, with the overall market for automotive chips contracting by 21 percent to $US14.4 billion in 2009 (compared to $US18.3 billion in 2008).

Freescale products achieve ZigBee Health Care Certification
Freescale Semiconductor today announced it has received ZigBee Certified product status for its ZigBee Health Care wireless health and wellness processing platforms. austriamicrosystems scores success in patent infringement lawsuit against Melexis
austriamicrosystems announced that the District Court (Landgericht) in Duesseldorf (Germany) issued a decision in the patent infringement lawsuit regarding magnetic field encoder products against Melexis N.V. / SA (Belgium) and its German subsidiary Melexis GmbH fully in favor of austriamicrosystems. In its first-instance verdict the court established that the sale and distribution of products from Melexis' product family of magnetic field encoders in Germany infringes European Patent EP 0 916 074 B1 exclusively held by austriamicrosystems. The court decision can be appealed.
