Quarter 2 record revenues Kontron AG raises revenue forecast to more than EUR 570 million
Kontron AG continued the past months' dynamic business trend in the second quarter, achieving revenue of EUR 145.2 million. This represents about 25 percent growth compared with the prior-year period (EUR 116.1 million). Total revenue is EUR 275.3 million in the first half of 2011 compared with EUR 213.8 million in the first half of 2010. This represents an increase of about 29 percent. The strongest growth rates were achieved in North America (44 percent), but also in the Emerging Markets (23 percent) and Europe (20 percent). In terms of vertical markets, the application areas of industrial automations, energy, medical technology but as well infotainment developed well. At EUR 424 million, the order book position remained at a very high level (previous year: EUR 398 million). Design wins add up to EUR 149 million in the first half-year, compared with EUR 141 million in the prior-year period. In terms of units, the number of design wins increased slightly from 218 to 234.
Nujira opens IC Design Centre in Edinburgh with Support of Scottish Development International

IPC Releases PCB Industry Results for June 2011
Association Connecting Electronics Industries has announced the June findings from its monthly North American Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Statistical Program. PCB Industry Growth Rates and Book-to-Bill Ratios Announced. Rigid PCB shipments were up 5.4 percent and bookings down 7.3 percent in June 2011 from June 2010. Year to date, rigid PCB shipments increased 4.4 percent and bookings declined 8.9 percent. Compared to the previous month, rigid PCB shipments increased 15.3 percent and rigid bookings increased 10.4 percent. The book-to-bill ratio for the North American rigid PCB industry in June 2011 was slightly below parity at 0.98.

G4S Technology LLC (formerly Adesta), a systems integrator and project management company for communication networks and electronic security systems, has been awarded a $47.2M contract from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MTC) to design and construct an aerial and underground fiber optic network that will connect over 120 communities in western and north central Massachusetts. The project, entitled MassBroadband 123, is led by the Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI), a division of MTC, and is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2013. National Instruments Technology Helps Virginia Tech Win EcoCAR Competition
Virginia Tech was recently named the overall winner of EcoCAR: The NeXt Challenge, a three-year collegiate vehicle engineering competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and General Motors (GM). The Virginia Tech Hybrid Electric Vehicle Team (HEVT) designed and built an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) that uses E85 (ethanol) and achieves fuel efficiency of 81.9 miles per gallon gasoline equivalent. With National Instruments (Nasdaq: NATI) reconfigurable software and hardware, the team used a graphical system design approach to design, prototype, validate and deploy a control strategy for the vehicle's hybrid components.
