Kingston HyperX: Two new world records achieved in memory overclocking
Kingston Technology Europe Ltd has announced that the Swiss overclocking community Ocaholic.ch has once more achieved two new world records with world's fastest dual channel memory kit Kingston The two new records for RAM modules were set on 20th October 2011 by two Swiss overclockers Roger Tanner alias splmann and Marc Voser alias Besi during IM.TOP – the in-house trade fair of Swiss distributors Ingram Micro in Lucerne. This means that at CAS 6 (Column Address Strobe Latency) 3095 MHz was achieved and at CAS 8, 3175 MHz was achieved. These are the fastest frequencies ever achieved for memory with CAS 6 and CAS 8. To achieve such a clock speed the memory modules were cooled with liquid nitrogen. For this purpose the memory slots were fixed in a cooler made from aluminium and copper. The cooler has a basin at the top which was filled with the -196°C liquid nitrogen.
NEXCOM 1080P Signage Player drafted into the Italian Navy
NEXCOM's high performance 1080P signage player NDiS 161 has been drafted into the Italian Navy as a part of an in-vessel infotainment system. NDiS 161, has been utilized in conjunction with a digital entertainment platform developed by Italian company Aitek, to give on-board personnel access to IPTV and important information updates. NDiS 161 therefore gives personnel within the Italian Navy a relaxing way to spend their off duty hours, whilst also giving the Navy Control Centre a medium to issue announcements and information.

Plessey EPIC Sensor Technology wins NMI R&D Achievement Award

AMD Processors Power Leading Research and Academic Supercomputers

World record-breaking solar panels come to UK market
The world's most efficient solar panels commercially available – as certified by the Guinness World Records – are now available to British homeowners. US-based SunPower E20 solar panels, the world's most efficient solar panels, have signed a deal with the UK's leading solar panel company, Ploughcroft – the solar roof installation partner for Vaillant Plc, Plumb Center (Wolseley Plc.) and NPower. The company is the first in the UK to offer SunPower E20 panels to British domestic and commercial solar customers.

Viscom Upgrades AOI Systems at Marquardt GmbH Plant
Marquardt GmbH relies on Viscom's AOI and AXI systems for electronics manufacturing. In order to further increase the efficiency of these inspection systems, the older systems have been upgraded with 8M technology, resulting in significant cycle time advantages. Since 2004, Viscom's S6055 and S6056 AOI systems, and X7056 AXI systems have been used in Marquardt's electronics manufacturing facilities. The company's assembly inspection is fully automatic – with both optical and X-ray inspection systems. This way, even demanding solder joints can be reliably checked.

Cambridge Consultants spins out Aveillant to get wind farms turning
Cambridge Consultants has announced the spin out of Aveillant with venture investment from DFJ Esprit and AIFCL, the wind industry fund. Aveillant's technology will remove the concerns about aviation safety and air defence that are holding back growth in the wind energy industry. Wind turbines in motion can mimic aircraft on an air traffic controller's radar screen. Aveillant will provide airfields with the accurate radar data needed to eliminate the potential confusion this could cause, without any resulting loss or compromise in performance. The need is urgent; currently 66% of all wind farm applications, equating to 6.5 gigawatts of electricity, are being delayed due to this problem in the UK alone. The launch of Aveillant is a crucial step towards removing a key barrier to harvesting clean energy around the world.
