3.2-megapixel and 2.0-megapixel CMOS image sensors
Toshiba Electronics Europe has announced the further expansion of its Dynastron CMOS image sensor product line with the addition of two new devices: the 3.2-megapixel ET8EE6-AS CMOS image sensor and 2.0-megapixel ET8EF2-AS CMOS image sensor SoC with integrated image-signal processor (ISP).
Bay Microsystems chooses IDT's network search accelerator
IDT announces that its application-optimized network search accelerator was selected by Bay Microsystems as the packet header processing solution of choice for its recently announced Chesapeake Network Processor. The IDT 75S10000A delivers a search rate of one billion searches per second - an order of magnitude greater performance than previous generation solutions - facilitating Bay's support of enhanced triple play services and future 100G Ethernet networks.
3M to Demo Touch Innovations at electronica 2006
3M Touch Systems will display its portfolio of world-renowned touch products and technologies at electronica 2006 (Hall A3, Stand 175). Stand visitors will see demonstrations of high endurance LCD capacitive touch screens, capacitive and resistive electronics, a kiosk chassis monitor and PL resistive touch sensors from 3M applied to demanding applications in markets such as gaming casino, retail lottery, financial ATM and retail self-service.
Ramtron at electronica
Ramtron International Corporation will showcase its new FRAM-Enhanced FM3130 Processor Companion and two new 512 kilobit serial non-volatile FRAM (ferroelectric random access memory) devices, the FM25L512 and the FM24C512, at Electronica 2006 (stand A5.321). Also featured at Electronica will be the first 8051-based microcontroller with FRAM, the VRS51L3074.
Avago Technologies gets Frost & Sullivan Optoelectronic Components Growth Excellence Award

8mm-Square Wire-Wound Inductor Achieves 3.4A at 10µH
TAIYO YUDEN has announced the NR8040T series of 8 x 8 x 4mm wire-wound power inductors for DC-DC converter choke coil applications in LCD and plasma TVs, automobile navigation systems, home video game consoles, and other devices. The 13 models in the NR8040T series offer a combination of low DC resistance (0.006-0.29 Ohms), high inductance (0.9-100µH) and high current ratings (1.0-11.8A).

Numerical Mathematics Consortium Updates Open Standard for Algorithm Development
The Numerical Mathematics Consortium has announced the latest revision to a technical specification introduced earlier this year that defines an open mathematics semantics standard for numerical algorithm development. This update includes newly ratified functions from classes that include polynomials and vector analysis. In addition to the new function definitions, the consortium resolved significant technical issues that simplify ratification of new functions.
Analog Devices Demonstrates new RF transceivers for WiMAX certified terminals
At the WiMAX World Conference, Analog Devices is demonstrating the first two devices in a family of RF transceivers for WiMAX certified terminals that will help lower the cost and drive the wide-scale deployment of broadband wireless access. Based on the 802.16 standard, WiMAX terminals provide wireless broadband connectivity and are low cost alternatives to wired solutions such as DSL and cable modems.
TI's Software Library Meets Mobile WiMAX Requirements
Texas Instruments has expanded the depth and distinction of its WiMAX infrastructure solutions with the announcement of its WiMAX Forum 802.16e Wave 1 Certification Library. TI's highly optimized software library incorporates all of the core signal processing and permutation functions required to build a Wave 1 compliant solution. In addition, TI has incorporated Wave 2 permutation functions to hasten the adoption of the advanced multi-antenna signal processing features such as MIMO and beamforming which are defined as part of the WiMAX Forum Wave 2 feature set. Window comparators enable device testing without bus isolation relays
Intersil's ISL55141/2/3 family of window comparators enables semiconductor device testing with ATE (automatic test equipment) in large voltage swing applications without the need for bus isolation relays, saving set-up time and cost. Users can leave the devices connected to the bus while they are not being used, even when the bus is generating wide signal voltage levels from other test cards. This allows for reduced tester set-up time, faster throughput, and lower unit test costs.

Analog Devices' Blackfin processor enables broadcast transmission systems to stream up to 384 digital audio channels for customers in multi-dwelling units.
Analog Devices has announced that X-Digital Systems, Inc., a manufacturer of broadcast transmission systems, is using ADI's Blackfin processor in its integrated satellite receiver with FM modulator. Using the Blackfin processor, X-Digital is offering a product that allows satellite operators to stream digital audio to a largely untapped market - multi-dwelling units, such as hotels and apartment complexes. X-Digital's satellite receiver converts digital satellite signals to FM analog signals that can be picked up by standard consumer audio receivers.
