Green TEC Laser Module to be unveiled at Laser 2007
Photonic Products is introducing a new 532nm DPSS green laser module with integral thermo electric control at LASER 2007 in Munich (June 18 on). Two Korean Universities Licence Tensilica’s Xtensa Configurable Processor
Tensilica has announced that two Korean universities have licensed its Xtensa configurable processor. The CoSoC (Center of System on Chip design technology) of Seoul National University is using the Xtensa processor in the classroom and has announced their third annual SOC (system-on-chip) design contest, which will, for the first time, accept designs that use Xtensa processors. The KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) has licensed the Xtensa configurable processor to develop multimedia SOC designs.

Software-Defined Test Reaches the Tipping Point in Military and Aerospace Applications

Dual-channel SLIC and codec in a single chip
Silicon Laboratories has announced an extension of the ProSLIC programmable subscriber line interface (SLIC) family, the Si3226 Dual ProSLIC, a fully-integrated dual-channel SLIC and codec in a single chip. The Si3226 ProSLIC leverages Silicon Labs' patented digital SLIC architecture to achieve a globally-compliant, carrier-grade SLIC complete with extensive remote diagnostic capabilities, low power consumption and the industry's clearest voice reproduction in its class. The Si3226 is optimized for enterprise and consumer equipment, such as voice-enabled cable and DSL modems, fiber to the premise (FTTP) optical networking units and PBXs.

Floating Point Digital Signal Controllers From TI Enable Greener Industrial Applications
Texas Instruments has announced what it says is the industry's first floating point digital signal controllers. The new TMS320F2833x devices provide 300 million floating point instructions per second (MFLOPS) performance at 150 MHz while providing the lower costs typically associated with fixed point processors. Simplified software development common to floating-point processors and the performance boost allows solar power inverters to more efficiently convert energy from photovoltaic (PV) panels, offers better power efficiency and performance to variable speed alternating current (AC) drives and provides greater performance for automotive radar applications.

Intersil Corporation has introduced the ISL51002, the industry's most sophisticated 10-bit video digitizer. Quantum Research opens design centre in Drogheda, Ireland

New from Contrinex is said to be the world's smallest packaged M8 inductive sensor. One of the Contrinex 620 range of Swiss made, high performance inductive sensors, this M8 device, complete with an in-built amplifier, is packaged into a housing only 16mm long.
NI LabWindows/CVI and Measurement Studio Now Compatible with Windows Vista
National Instruments has announced the release of the newest versions of LabWindows/CVI, the proven ANSI C integrated development environment, and Measurement Studio, a comprehensive suite of libraries and user interface controls for applications built using Microsoft Visual Studio. LabWindows/CVI 8.1.1 and Measurement Studio 8.1.1 provide support for Windows Vista to help engineers easily transition to the newest version of the Microsoft operating system. Omron extends air/gas flow sensor range
Omron has added a more compact and lower cost version to its range of air and gas flow sensors, designed to detect clogged air intake filters and air velocity flows in office automation equipment, domestic air purifiers and coolers, and HVAC applications. The new sensors offer a monitoring solution at below the cost of a Pitot tube.

First Automotive SAW Sensor and Controller Enhances Fuel Efficiency and Safety
