The future of M2M
Whilst “M2M” is being talked about a lot, the understanding of what it actually means differs. At 7Layers we regard M2M as the means to connect people, devices, networks, and everyday objects with the help of wireless technologies, thus supporting the communication and interpretation of data and the consequential actions in a timely, secure and safe manner.

Keeping this in mind, M2M, and with it embedded wireless connectivity, has the potential to spread to a huge variety of devices and applications. However issues such as data throughput, interoperability, safety, security etc. have to be taken care of sufficiently to make this vision of a smarter world come true.

7Layers is not only capable to test and certify wireless products according to rules and regulations, thus helping them on their way to the global market.

Due to years of experience in setting up test and certification schemes, based on systematical requirements capturing, and our capability to develop test strategies, test cases and test systems, 7Layers supports the development of an M2M world in which M2M devices and applications are safe and secure to use and can be connected easily to each other end-to-end.

However, such a development needs the engagement of a multitude of partners with various capabilities and targets. By joining the M2M alliance and taking part in their activities we expect to build up partnerships that will promote the M2M development. On that score 7Layers is participating at the M2M Summit 2012 in Duesseldorf, Germany.
