TCXO's save space and money

News Release from: Aspen Electronics Limited
10 March 2006

Aspen Electronics has announced the latest range of temperature compensated crystal oscillators (TCXOs) from Vectron International.

TCXO's save space and moneyThe C2260 series of TCXOs is designed to provide improved phase noise performance, yet are contained in a compact 5x7 module, and offered at a competitive price. Vectron has used its latest TCXO integrated circuit design which can stabilise frequency from 6.4MHz up to 32MHz, over a wide temperature range of -30°C to +85°C, to better than 0.28 ppm.

The devices are encapsulated using well-proven FR4 base technology. The primary benefit is that the modules will have the same coefficient of expansion as the customer’s printed circuit board, thereby minimising the possibility of failure due to solder joint fatigue.

A second advantage of using FR4 materials in place of ceramic is greater flexibility of design and layout of the oscillator circuit, particularly with respect to optimising the pin outs for better phase-noise performance figures.

Ideal for use in a wide range of telecom, wireless and data communications applications, the C2260 Series devices is fully compliant to the GR1244-Core and GR253-Core standards. Samples of 12.8MHz and 20MHz versions, designed for the two most important SONET/SDH IC solutions from Semtech and Zarlink, are already available from stock.
