SL Power Electronics has announced a family of 18W external switch-mode power supplies for medical applications that complies with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Energy Star Level IV requirements. The new Ault MW148RA is a single output family that is available in four voltages with a power range of 15 to 18W.
“The medical electronics market is currently exempt from global energy conservation standards like the EPA’s Energy Star ratings and the new Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA). However, we believe it is important that medical OEMs have the option to purchase the same, highly efficient power supplies required in the U.S. commercial marketplace,” says Nigel Davies, European Managing Director, SL Power Electronics. “The MW148RA series marks a new level of technological achievement in a series of standard products that are highly reliable and energy efficient, while meeting stringent global medical safety standards.”
The desktop-style Ault MW148RA family is ideal for a wide range of medical applications, including diagnostic and imaging equipment, monitors of all types, home health care systems, and portable equipment.
By satisfying Level IV Energy Star requirements and the new higher efficiency and standby levels mandated in the EISA, the Ault MW148RA series meets the most current international power supply efficiency standards while complying with Class B EMI/RFI regulations.
The MW148RA also meets UL60601-1, EN60601-1, IEC60601-1 and CE safety standards, and is available in four voltage models ranging from 5 to 24V. It is priced at approximately $10.00 in OEM quantities.
All Ault MW148RA models can be modified to meet unique power or connectivity requirements. SL Power Electronics can also design a completely custom solution to meet specific OEM requirements and private label marking needs.
