mobile technologies, OFDM, hueggenbergTechnical Short Courses for Mobile TechnologiesNews Release from:
hueggenberg gbr hueggenberg gbr is to present two technical courses for mobile technologies: From November 27th to 29th, 2007, the three-day-course OFDM for Advanced Wireless Communications (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) will take place at the Flemings Hotel in Munich. It will be followed by a one-day-course on DVB-H on November 30th. This lecture is based on OFDM ground rules and gives an introduction to the Physical Layer of Digital Video Broadcast for Handhelds (DVB-H).
OFDM is a bandwidth efficient digital modulation technique which forms the basis of many wireless standards currently under development. The technique is now extremely popular for wireless communications providing the base algorithm technology for common standards such as WLAN, WiMAX and MBWA. Even in the broadcasting world of DVB (digital video broadcast) and DAB (digital audio broadcast) OFDM is becoming more essential. Future evolutions of 3G (LTE) will likely see the adoption of ODFM, as will different modes of the evolving ultra wideband standards. Since OFDM is a complex technology to implement this 3-day short course incorporates everything from the fundamentals, advantages and disadvantages of OFDM modulation to receive synchronisation techniques and case studies of cutting edge standards such as 802.11a/g (WLAN), 802.16 (WiMAX) and 802.20 (MBWA). The syllabus is presented in an intuitive manner, and is underpinned by a strong practical element in which attendees are invited to design and simulate physical layer elements of OFDM systems. |
