Harwin adds quick-mate latches to hi-rel automated assembly contact system

10 November 2010

Harwin, the leading hi-rel connector and SMT board hardware manufacturer, has announced a latching version of its Datamate Trio-Tek contact system which means that for the first time, not only can the hi-rel contacts be semi- or fully auto crimp assembled, they can also be speedily and securely mated without the need for time-consuming jackscrews.

Harwin adds quick-mate latches to hi-rel automated assembly contact systemThe Datamate Trio-Tek three-point, open-barrel contact was introduced last year as the first high performance contact that could be auto assembled using standard industry tooling. This not only speeds assembly time considerably – offering substantial cost-savings – it also improves reliability. However, until now, users had to mate the connector pairs using jackscrews, which – although providing the ultimate in ruggedness and mating security – is a highly labour-intensive process. With the introduction of the simple L-Tek latching system, Datamate Trio-Tek minimises system assembly time as well.

Datamate Trio-Tek L-Tek is available in a wide range of configurations covering 22 to 28awg and 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 17 positions (single row) and 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14,16, 18, 20, 26, 34 and 44 positions (dual row).

Comments Product Manager Paul Gillam: “The introduction of the Datamate Trio-Tek L-Tek female connector family ensures that medium and high volume applications that require a high performance contact can be assembled and mated very quickly at minimum cost!”
