TFT and COG display products target portable product designers

News Release from: Arrow Electronics
11 January 2007

Arrow is expanded its family of TFT (thin film transistor) and COG (chip on glass) displays with a new range of character and graphic modules targeted at portable applications and offering resolutions up to 240 x 320 pixels.

The Everbouquet MF176220B18-BFU is a 46mm (1.8inch), 176 x 220 pixel TFT display. Based on transmissive amorphous silicon technology, the device features an RGB stripe pixel arrangement and contrast ratio of 200:1. Designed for a 12 O' clock viewing direction, the display features viewing angles of 45º/45º/50º/20º (right/left/up/down). Colour saturation is 55% and typical total response time 30ms.

COG displays give the designer a greater variety of mechanical options, whilst keeping costs low and reducing required minimum order quantities. Everbouquet's new COG range, now available from Arrow, includes the MCG1602C/D 16 x 2 line character displays, with a choice of two viewing area specifications: 25.4mm x 6.1mm or 48.3mm x 15.8mm.

In addition to character displays, the company provides graphic versions with pixel dimensions of 128 x 64, 132 x 33 and 240 x 320 (QVGA), and active area of up to 57.6mm x 76.8mm. Available in STN and FTSN versions, the displays can be specified with any one of eight backlight colours.
