Drives manufacturer Sprint Electric introduced at the recent SPS/IPC/Drives show in Nuremberg, Germany, an Ethernet-based distributed control system for DC drives. drive.web includes graphical configuration tools that provide diagnostics and configurability of all drives on the network, either locally or remotely via the Internet. The graphical tools allow the full configuration of the drives, provide service diagnostics, full documentation and an operator interface for local control, all without the need for a PLC or supervisory computer.

Texas Instruments unveiled a new multistandard wireless base station System-on-Chip (SoC) delivering double the LTE performance and a 2x power/performance improvement over existing macro and compact base station SoC solutions developed in 40-nm process technology. Based on TI's new TMS320C66x digital signal processor (DSP) generation, the TMS320TCI6618 utilizes a strategic design approach that accelerates the well-defined standard aspects of LTE. New accelerometers rumble low frequency vibrations
The CTA306 series of rugged triaxial accelerometers, available from Aptifirst, are especially designed to mechanically filter out vibrations at frequencies over 20Hz, so that low frequency vibrations may be measured accurately in vibrationally noisy environments. Ranges available are ±2g to ±30g, the different axes can be fitted with different ranges if required, and they have an amazing over-range capacity of 20,000g. They allow true inertial measurements on vehicles, and have many other applications in sports dynamics, aerospace, defence, civil engineering, theme parks, marine, offshore, rail and road transport, as well as R&D, materials processing and other manufacturing industries.

Rugged accelerometers can take some punishment
The rugged CTA103 accelerometers from Aptifirst Instrumentation and Technology are able to withstand up to 4,000g of acceleration overload. The MEMS precision capacitative silicon devices that form the cores of the accelerometers are potted in a 30 x 25 x 15mm, IP65 aluminium housing to provide maximum reliability. The transducers are available with either 0.5-4.5V voltage output (CTA103V), or with a 4-20mA current loop output (CTA103A).
AMD and ViVu Showcase Wireless HD Content Streaming Solution Powered by AMD Fusion APUs
AMD and ViVu recently demonstrated for the first time a next-generation, high-definition (HD) content streaming solution powered by AMD technology. The demonstration, which first took place at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), featured 720p HD video streaming wirelessly from an AMD-powered notebook PC to a flat panel display and two tablet devices all at once without any additional hardware. The demonstrated technology is based on standards-compliant 802.11n wireless technology, the Adobe Flash Player and a prototype software solution from ViVu, a leader in desktop videoconferencing solutions.
