One-Shot Bimetal Thermal Fuses
In applications where a very reliable one-shot thermal fuse option is required, ATC Semitec now offers the PEPI H series. PEPI H bimetal fuses do not suffer from aging like conventional thermal fuses and so can be used at temperatures much closer to their switch point. This means that should a fault condition occur, the H-type fuse will react quicker offering greater security to the appliance and its user.

New Chip Varistors Protect against ESD
New EIA 0201 Multilayer Chip Varistors from Taiyo Yuden are designed to protect today's slim and compact hand-held mobile devices against electrostatic discharge (ESD). Fact is, these varistors offer the industry's highest electrostatic discharge for their size. Both the VR063 101A120 and the VR063 101A080 boast the same varistor voltage, ESD resistance and other electrical characteristics as Taiyo Yuden's previous highly regarded EIA 0402 model. However, they measure only 0.6 x 0.3 x 0.3 mm, and are 78% smaller than the EIA 0402.
NXP introduces ESD protection device for USB 3.0 and eSATA
NXP Semiconductors today announced the availability of a new ESD protection device, the IP4284CZ10, for high speed differential interfaces such as USB 3.0 and eSATA. The IP4284CZ10 offers the industry's lowest differential crosstalk with excellent line-to-line capacitance matching and straight-through routing for optimized signal integrity. The IP4284CZ10 delivers 8kV of contact ESD protection which is at level 4 according to the IEC61000-4-2 standard.

California Micro Devices Launches LuxGuard High Voltage ESD Protection Diodes for HBLEDs
California Micro Devices today announced the latest products in the LuxGuard™ family of turnkey solutions for ESD (electrostatic discharge) protection and thermal management for high power, high brightness light emitting diode (HBLED) lighting applications. The new LuxGuard CM1753 and CM1754 feature a 50 volt breakdown voltage specification and deliver a robust 8kV HBM (Human Body Model) of ESD protection with low input capacitance for high power, high efficacy HBLED lighting applications. Designed as silicon based side mount ESD protectors, the CM1753 is designed for P-up common cathode configurations and CM1754 provides identical protection for N-up common anode configurations. International Rectifier has introduced the AUIPS2051L and AUIPS2052G 75V low-side intelligent power switches (IPS) for harsh 24V automotive environments including truck junction box applications. The AUIPS2051L and AUIPS2052G feature a 70V active clamp and provide a comprehensive set of protection features. The devices shut down in the event of over-temperature or over-current conditions, restarting once the input is turned off and turned on again, and provide the diagnostic information via a serial resistor connected to the input pin. Furthermore, the AUIPS205x family is designed using IR's 75V technology making them well suited to any 24V automotive loads such as solenoids or as electromechanical relay replacements.

Rittal has significantly extended its Ri4Power range for low-voltage switchgear, with the development of new isolator sections. The isolator section layout is based on the familiar components of the Ri4Power system. In tests, the highest configuration variant with complete side panel modules and bar covers achieved internal form separation of up to Form 4b. Depending on the number of cables to be connected, the new Rittal isolator sections are available in section widths of 1000 and 1200 mm, offering a connection space width of approximately 300 and 500 mm respectively.
