IEC approved UMF fuse in 1206 package from ArrowNow available from Arrow, the Schurter USI 1206 is the industry's first IEC approved Universal Modular Fuse in a 1206 footprint. In addition to conformance to IEC 60127-4/2, the device bears international approvals by cURus, METI and CCC. The new fuse series has high melting I˛t values, which provides greater withstand against inrush or pulse currents. In lower overcurrent conditions its opening time compares to 1206 time-delay types according to UL; but it also responds very quickly to higher overcurrents in the event of a fault condition.

16V 250 mA LDO from MicrochipMicrochip has announced the MCP1703 Low Dropout Regulator (LDO)—a 250 mA LDO with low quiescent current of just 2μA and high input voltage of up to 16V. The EClamp239xP is a series of inductor-capacitor (L-C) protection devices featuring greater attenuation, steeper amplitude roll-off, and lower clamping voltage needed for high-performance color LCD interfaces in GSM and CDMA-based 3G handsets. The EClamp239xP series includes the four-line EClamp2394P, the six-line EClamp2396P and the eight-line EClamp2398P. The EClamp239xP's 5-pole L-C filter network has inductor values of 19nH and capacitor values of 12pF, enabling the devices to offer minimal attenuation in the passband and 30 dB minimum attenuation from 800 MHz to 2.7 GHz, ideal for 3G-based mobile phones. ESD Protection for High-Speed ApplicationsSemtech has announced two new additions to its RailClamp family of low capacitance protection devices that provide system designers a new option for adding critical power protection to high-speed lines without the high clamping voltage and high capacitance limitations of competing solutions. RClamp1502B and RClamp2402B are designed with an ultra-low capacitance of 0.6pF to protect high-speed data lines without signal attenuation. The devices also have low clamping voltages to reduce stress on the protected IC that are very susceptible to ESD and CDE threats. The RClamp1502B protects two 15V lines and the RClamp2402B protects two 24V lines. Both devices protect two lines and are targeted for interfaces operating up to 1GHz, such as IEEE 1394 (FireWire), high-power USB, or ADSL input/output lines.

5V Protection Devices for HDMI 1.3Semtech Corp has announced the RClamp0524P and RClamp0522P, two new 5V protection devices that are the first solid-state devices to reach 0.3pF in capacitance to meet the needs of High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) 1.3 and other high-speed data lines. HDMI has been a dramatic success with more than 60 million HDMI-equipped devices shipped in 2006. In June 2006, the new HDMI 1.3 standard was introduced for improved color depth and audio output. HDMI 1.3 doubles the data rate of HDMI signals to 3.4 Gbps per differential pair.
