Alpha Wire Extends Smaller Gauge Xtra‐Guard Cable Range
Alpha Wire has announced that it is extending the Xtra‐Guard family of performance cables with the introduction of smaller, new 26 AWG (0.14 mm2) and 28 AWG (0.09 mm2) stranded conductors. Smaller gauge conductors help reduce the overall cable diameter, delivering improved flexibility, and increasing compatibility with today's smaller connectors whilst maintaining the high performance and system reliability for which Xtra‐Guard is known.

Tekdata Partners with GE Aviation
Tekdata's expertise in specialist interconnects is helping hasten the arrival of all-electric aircraft, which eliminate bulky hydraulic actuators and bleed systems for lighter and more efficient planes. Tekdata has completed development of the wiring harness for GE Aviation's actuation system for the Elgear electrically actuated landing gear aimed at the Airbus A320 replacement airliner.
Eland Cables makes cable selection a 3D experience

Connector and component manufacturer GTK has been achieving fast turn-around times for complex cable harness designs at its UK cable assembly and box-building facility based in Romsey, Hampshire. Recently the company won business supplying London Underground with a cable assembly for use in ticket machines.

LAPP's Cable Range For Equipment Exports to USA
Lapp has announced a key addition to its ÖLFLEX M and TM cable ranges produced to meet the latest USA safety legislation for electrical equipment - NFPA 2007. The new ÖLFLEX CONTROL TM CY cable has a double screening of tinned copper wire braid and aluminium foil ensuring a high level of resistance against electrical interference. According to Lapp, the new cable is suitable for open or exposed runs on cable trays between equipment or devices and both on and in machines in industrial establishments in accordance to NEC 336.10(7).
Lapp to present its cable solutions capability at M&E 2008

igus has launched a cable with individual conductors designed to withstand high levels of torsion in all three dimensions. The robot-suitable cable is ideal for robotic and other applications, such as rotary tables or spindle drives that must be supplied with high power levels.

Clever Cable Gland Handles Large Diameter Cables

New lightweight, small diameter cables are fire resistant
Tyco Electronics has expanded its range of lightweight, small diameter C-Lite cables with a version designed for use in high risk and safety critical environments. C-Lite FR cables feature all performance characteristics of the standard C-Lite cable range with the added ability of maintaining circuit integrity for 2 hours during a 1000 degrees Celsius fire (as defined by IEC60331). Prototype samples actually survived the fire for 8 hours.
Sensor actuator cable flexes 60 million times
igus will be exhibiting its latest sensor actuator cable for tight bending radii at the forthcoming EMO show. The new Chainflex CF98.INI cable is designed for bend radii of 4xd and smaller and has been proven to work even after 60 million cycles, thanks to the use of new cable materials.
Torsion- Resistant Cables Specifically for use with Wind Generators
Leading cable solutions provider, Lapp Ltd, has made available a new torsion resistant, rubber, single core cable designed by the company specifically for use with today's wind energy generators. Part of the company's established Olflex cable family, the H07BN4-F features an abrasion resistant outer sheath and a conductor that that has been developed to allow for torsional movements of ± 150º/m which makes it suitable for connecting the moving gondola to the ground floor transformer. Voltage rating is from 450 to 750V and it meets the exacting requirements of VDE 0282 part 12. Maximum conductor temperature is +90ºC and the black outer sheath is UV resistant and flame retardant to IEC 60332.1.
